Arrived at 7:00pm on a Monday with our party of 4 and were offered both inside or outside seating. The outside is preferred for the views but it was a bit to chilly so we took inside. Now we tried to have dinner here Saturday but the wait was over an hour so you need to be flexible. Lorie was our server and did a good job all evening. Our drink orders were taken and brought to our table. We started our dinner orders and mentioned the board that noted specials but Lorie never explained what they were so we stayed with the menu items so that's 3 🌟 for the server. 3 of us ordered a cup of She Crab Soup ($6) which came out hot and a real 5 🌟. Wanting to eat light one guest ordered the small spinach salad with Grilled Salmon ($12) which was good but Salmon was a bit dry so 4 🌟. Next guest ordered the large Spinach SaladWith Grilled Shrimp which was done perfectly so 5 🌟. Bill and I decided to share the Conch Seafood Platter($32) which was described as "Generous portions of Shrimp, Scallops, Oysters. , Flounder and Stuffed Crab" sad to say not what advertised. The Flounder was 2 ounces and dry, dry, dry. The shrimps were small with a single stuffed crab that was burned on the top. Fries were ok but not a lot and was surprised that when I wanted a small side salad was charged $1.50... What's with that as you would think a $32 meal would come with a small salad. Oysters were few but the scallops were cooked right and a fair quantity so we give it 3 🌟 as one item can't make this worth the price. We decided against desert and am not sure of the selection. Overall we recommend Conch Cafe but know a few things. They are only open from February through October and some dishes may not meet your...
Read moreDined inside because they could not accommodate our party of 6 adults, 2 children and a baby outside. 5 tables that came in after us all received their food first. When my son questioned the waiter, he got defensive. Didn’t apologize or offer to do anything to help the situation (like bring the kid’s some crackers). He just told us the food was up next. Two women sitting near us, offered to give the children their chicken fingers. Even they realized they had come in after us, their food came out first and that we had been waiting an exceptionally long time with young children. Having worked in restaurants myself, I went to talk to the manager. He responded the same way as the waiter. Did not apologize, rudely asked how I know other tables were served before us (we all witnessed it) and said, “I would have plated your food but you called me away from the kitchen.” He also said I was yelling at him, which I definitely was not. Finally he asked what I wanted him to do. The food was now coming out but I told him I wanted to be compensated for all the trouble. They took the child’s corn dog off the bill (5.99). Aside from the incredibly long wait, the overall service was just poor. Mixed in with the poor attitudes of the waiter and manager it made for a very unpleasant experience. We live nearby and have been coming to the restaurant since 1989. It used to be our favorite restaurant, but under the new ownership, the restaurant is just...
Read moreWe arrived at 645pm to find a wait of 30 mins, of which they only made us wait 20mins. Not too bad for a Saturday night. We looked at the menu while we waited. The restaurant was nicely decorated with a busy bar. We noticed there was no clear way of calling tables, but when she asked us our name - for the 3rd time - we told her we looked the menu over already and knew what we wanted. She grabbed wrapped utensils and sat us right by the kitchen entry/exit. Then, we waited for another 30 mins to be acknowledged. Another table (4 top with 3 guests) sat, got drinks, and placed their order when a waitress asked if we were being helped. She asked how we got utensils, and I explained that we were sat by the hostess, and I told her that we knew what we wanted before being sat, and we told the hostess that. She seemed irrated and quickly took our order. She rushed back with our water, dropped them on the table, not making eye contact, and never came back. Not even with a check. As we left money on the table, she chased us down and said we didn't pay her enough. We paid eith cash, so the 3.5% credit card fee didn't apply. But she said we got the tax wrong, so we gave her $3 more dollars and left. We were not that impressed with her, and it put a bad taste in our mouths about the restaurant as a whole. I'm...
