This was my second visit and I wanted to leave a review because the service is exceptional. I visited with a large group of 17 at lunch on Tuesday. We thought there was a reservation but there was not, but the staff quickly got us set up with a table for 20! During lunch time. We arrived before the lunch rush, but they did get busy while we were there. We were separate tickets with some parties of 2. They gave us plenty of time to look at the menu, and they kept our drinks refilled. Our orders were taken quickly and the food came out as fast as possible with such a large group and at lunch. Everyone seemed to have gotten what they ordered, the food was hot, and it all came out at almost the same time, with the only delay being not able to put all the plates on one tray. I had the fish tacos, which is the Friday lunch special but you can order them any day or $1 upcharge, with rice only no beans. The tacos were served with cabbage and cilantro and a fresh lime slice. The fish was one big piece of fish in each taco and was fried nicely. But it was a fairly large piece of fish and I would’ve liked more cabbage and hot sauce. I used salsa and they had tabasco, but jalapeños or something else would’ve enhanced the flavor. The rice was fine, but again, could’ve used more flavor. The puffed taco shells were good I heard, but the filling fell out after the first bite because of the shape. The guacamole tostada again could’ve been more flavorful maybe spice or garlic or salt or all of the above, just something more. The checks came out quickly and were all correct the first time around! Which again, for a large party was impressive. Checks were cleared quickly and we enjoyed our meal. The exceptional service and attentiveness of the whole staff made up for any issues with the food, we’ll be back for sure, and maybe try a margarita next time :)

I don’t like to post negative reviews, but I came to this place for two reasons: 1) 4.6 stars on Google 2) Relatively close proximity to my place. I enjoy writing reviews and generally post good reviews when I come across a place that I thoroughly enjoy or that surprises me in a good way. This experience was neither. It was my first visit and I’m not sure if I’ll try it again. I’m going to keep this as constructive as possible. The ordering and curb-side pick up process were flawless! Great job there. The food, however, had no flavor. I ordered the beef fajitas, swapped the bean soup with refried beans, and added a side of rice. Upon opening the to-go container, I was not greeted with what I would expect after paying almost $20. The beef was hammered super thin, most likely cooked either last night or today around lunch time and then reheated (it was barely warm after my 7 minute drive home). The onions were also not cooked, as they maybe kissed the grill for about 30 seconds, and were definitely not cooked with the meat, which would also add flavor to the dish. The rice suffered the same fate. Being cooked without the use of flavor and then being reheated before breaking up the clump of cold rice. I hope for the sake of this restaurant, that my experience was an outlier. For those looking at this place for a first time visit, maybe try dine-in so that if the food is as lacking in quality or freshness as mine was, you haven’t already payed for it and you can try something else.

Service is more authentic than the food. Was excited to try, saw a ton of awards as we walked in so decided to try something basic and something specific to the restaurant. First, chips and salsa lack luster, expected one if not both of these to be homemade for the posted accolades but both were off the shelf. Queso was ok, definitely hot which I appreciated. Tacos Al carbon were disappointing, first they were not hot. Flavor was ok I bet hot would have been pretty good. The MOST disappointing were the store bought tortillas, everyone knows that very specific store bought smell, I didn’t eat them. Rice was ok, beans were decent but a bit bitter for cooking too long. Husband got the pollo guisado which was the special today. This one I was excited about because why put something like that on the menu if you don’t do it well. Flavor was good, squash and corn in a somewhat salsa verde but the chicken was a literal afterthought. I understood it when I saw it. They put this on the menu to avoid wasting day old chicken. There was nothing “stewed” about the chicken, it was chunks added to the stew, disappointing. Very clearly the service is the highlight and to the restaurant’s credit why change the food when they can hang their hat on the service. Won’t be retuning but yall enjoy.

Stopped in for lunch today 7/25/19 around 1:45. It took a few minutes to get seated with there being hardly any other customers in the building. Once seated the chips and salsa arrived without issue. Our waitress came for our drink orders and we were going over the menu looking forward to having an enjoyable meal. We placed our order. We waited, and waited and then waited some more. When the couple next to us, who arrived and ordered after us, had their first delivered before us I started to get pretty frustrated. Then a young lady, who I assume was the manager came by to tell us sorry for the delay, hope that's okay. Well, what do you say at that point? About five minutes later the man who served us our chips and salsa came over with our plates mentioning how hot they were. Well maybe the plates were but my rice and beans were cold the Camerones Acapulco's had over cooked bacon which was sad because they were the only edible thing on my plate. The husband's food was, in his words, tasty but not worth the near hour wait it took to get it to us. When our waitress finally came back to refill my water, I mentioned that the rice and beans came out cold. She says she will find out how to take care of the situation and takes off with my water glass in her hand! Mind you, I'm trying to get full on the chips and now need my water badly! I had enough at this point and just wanted the check and to get out of there. I found two people behind the bar, explained the entire situation expressively letting them know I just needed to get out of there and they said they were working on our ticket. I said can I please get some water to wash this food down with? Yes, I got some. Thank goodness! While still waiting on the check I went to put a few dollars for a tip on the table and noticed that my water had been returned. I'm so over it at this point! Finally got the check with much apologies and told they took my mean off, which is the only reason I have two stars to this review. This is not the Desperado's of...

I recently relocated to TX and have been sampling many different restaurants. Desperado catered an event I attended and the food was decent, but I wanted to partake in the entire dining experience so I decided to treat myself to dinner for my birthday. I was a party of one and was seated immediately. The restaurant was fairly empty, and after a considerable amount of time the waitress finally came over to take my drink order, and I placed my food order.

The food arrived in reasonable time, but I never saw the waitress again after she took my order. After I finished my meal I waited another 30+ mins before someone came to see if they could remove my plate, at which time I asked for a takeout container. I waited an additional 15-20 mins until someone came and just left the check. Well, it would have been nice if I was offered the dessert menu or asked if I wanted anything else. Additionally, I needed to order takeout.

After more waiting I decided to go to the hostess. Being my first time there I wasn’t sure how things worked. I explained to her that the waitress never came back after taking my order, and that I wanted to add additional food to my bill. She began to retell the story in Spanish to a gentleman. I assumed he didn’t speak English because she spoke to him in Spanish. He just stood there looking at me for a moment as if he was waiting for me to say something, and then rudely asked (in English) if I was ready to order. I don’t know what that was all about. I’ve never experienced that before. The food was decent but the service was terrible. I wish I had chosen a different place for a birthday dinner. I...
