Don Burger — Restaurant in Garland

Well I’ll start off by saying that the burger is worth the money and pretty good once you get it. The fries on the other hand kinda bleh and cold.

When I went in there were maybe 12 people total in the place. 6 waiting for food. I ordered my food and waited…and waited….and waited. I tried my best to be patient but once it reached the 45 minute mark I had to go back to the front counter and ask where my food. I was told it would be 8 more minutes. When I asked why is there t an hour wait for a burger and fries he said “well we can’t give it to you raw, we have to cook it.” And I was like “it don’t take an hour to cook a burger.” “Well we have call in orders that we have to take care of first and then we’ll get to you eventually.”

It wasn’t very busy and they just don’t have the staff that can keep up with even a moderately busy day. A wait time should have been given at the time of order. I don’t have 45mins to an hour to wait for a burger.

Add to that when they eventually dropped the food off they didn’t apologize l, ask if I needed anything, and just dropped it off and darted away to avoid being polite. I wasn’t being rude to the staff, I would never do that. I’m in the service industry myself for a long time. Even on our busiest of days in a full sit down restaurant nobody would ever wait 45+ mins for their food without an explanation or apology.

And then the food wasn’t even hot when I got it. Fries were cold and at that point I was in a rush to get on with the rest of my day.

Like I said…the burger was good/decent but not worth waiting THAT long for…and it wasn’t just me…others were complaining to each other too for how long they had to wait.

Bottom line…if you have 45mins - an hour to kill waiting on a burger and fries you won’t be disappointed. If you’re looking for quick and friendly service then you might want to go...

We decided to try this place one evening for some burgers. We entered and you order in the back and was greeted right away. The gentleman took our order, while the gentleman in the cook area came out to talk with us about what we like. Told him it was our first time and was excited and said it would be good and if anything is not to let him know. I ordered the Don Burger and my partner ordered the Aguacate Burger. They cook everything fresh when you order. The Grill is right in the front so you see them cooking your burger and making your fries. You can talk to the cooks, spoke mostly Spanish but the other gentleman spoke English. Very nice Atmosphere where you feel like you are visiting friends. They give you a number and bring your food out to your table. The Don Burger was one of the best burgers I had in a long time. It tasted so delicious and was put together picture perfect. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. My partner's burger the Aguacate Burger was fantastic. Cooked to perfection not overcooked and dry like some places. We found the restaurant was very clean. Lil' Sis has been telling us how good their burgers were so we dropped in. Really cool vibe. Not fancy or upscale, but fun and relaxed. Lots of unique but dated furnishings. Booths were too worn and cushy that made it difficult to get in and out. First thing you see is the Burger menu on the wall and an easel with appetizers and kids menu. The burger selection is overwhelming and maybe a little too much. We tried the Goomba burger with two patties, comes with one but we ordered an additional. Made it very expensive for a burger. The burger was great especially the meat, appears they use fresh ground beef and hand form it. No two patties are alike. We wondered why we'd never tried it before or heard of it. Hand cut fries were okay and we ordered fried mushrooms. They were also okay. The staff was super friendly and always had a smile. We look forward to trying it again and a different burger or maybe even some of their chicken sandwiches really look tempting. We realize we probably would have been better off with just a single patio meat because two was a little bit Overkill. That was on us.
