I had one of the worst experiences with Golden City off Oates Rd. this past Monday. I placed an online to-go order for delivery, waited the entire estimated delivery time, and nothing ever showed up. After calling around to figure out what happened, I learned that Golden City had CLOSED — without any notice online, by phone, or on the ordering platform. The only “notification” was a piece of paper taped to their door.

Not only did I waste my time, but the poor delivery driver (who I had already tipped $10 in advance) wasted gas and effort driving all the way there to pick up my order, only to find out the restaurant was closed. The driver lost money, I lost time, and all because Golden City couldn’t be bothered to update their status or notify customers properly.

To make matters worse, I even called on Monday and left a voicemail asking them to call me back so I could explain what happened — and I still haven’t received a response. That shows me they don’t care about their customers at all.

This is incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful to both customers and drivers. I live just eight minutes away — it should’ve been a simple, smooth order. Instead, it turned into a complete waste of time and money for everyone involved.

Excellent Chinese food at a reasonable price and with outstanding service!

My wife and I have visited Golden City Chinese Restaurant a few times. The food always comes out great! The Lunch and Dinner specials are very cheap. We shared an order of steamed wontons, each received an entrée with rice, soup and egg roll, along with a soda for under $30. The orange chicken is so delicious and my wife gets it every time. The owners are the most friendly you will ever have. They make sure your drinks are full and that you are catered the whole time. The owner even offered to box our food in to-go containers (the portions are huge! Plenty for two meals). Tried this place for the first time and was disappointed. Service is terrible, the owner or lady at the front taking my order was rude, I let her know that it was my first time trying them out so I wanted to look at the menu. Once I made my decision I told her I was ready she ignored me after I kindly told her again I was ready she took my order and was yelling at me bc it didn’t make sense to her what I was ordering. I order low mein with garlic sauce and deluxe fried rice, the low mein had literally no flavor the rice was dry and seemed old they included some hot chili oil that had an old grease taste after eating this food I immediately went to throw up.
