Surma Grocery and Ethiopian Restaurant — Restaurant in Garland

I recently visited Surma Ethiopian Restaurant for the first time, and it was an incredible experience. My entire group was new to Ethiopian cuisine, so I we weren’t sure where to start, but our waitress walked us through the menu, explained the different dishes, and gave thoughtful recommendations that made us feel comfortable trying something new.

The food itself was delicious! Everything tasted extremely fresh and perfectly seasoned. The grass fed beef was fantastic.

What stood out most was the warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s clear that the staff truly care about making guests feel at home, whether they’re longtime fans of Ethiopian food or trying it for the very first time.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Surmma Ethiopian Restaurant, and it was a truly enjoyable experience. The food was authentic and flavorful, offering a rich taste of Ethiopian cuisine. The injera was fresh and perfectly textured, and the variety of stews (wot) were well-seasoned and satisfying.

The service was warm and welcoming. The staff made sure we were comfortable and explained the dishes for those of us unfamiliar with some of the menu items. You can really tell they care about both their food and their guests.

I am extremely disappointed with the declining quality of meat at this restaurant. I recently bought meat for kitfo, and it was absolutely disgusting. The odor was terrible, and the meat was not properly ground—I found large chunks inside, which made me question its freshness and preparation. It even seemed like leftovers were mixed in, which is completely unacceptable.

When this restaurant first opened, the owner was great, and we even referred other customers. However, it seems like he has taken our support for granted. This is not the first time I’ve had issues; I have personally warned him three times about the same problem. Instead of improving, things have only gotten worse.
