El Dorado Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Garner

My friend and I had lunch at this restaurant and our service was awful. Our server Mr. Mariano came and took our order and we we order the Speedy Gonzalez. It comes with a soft or hard taco, enchilada, and beans or rice. He asked us what kind of meat I would like and I asked for the steak in both the taco and enchilada. And then I ordered an sweet tea.

When the bill came the total for my order was different than my friends. Her's was cheaper because they added an two extra charges for getting steak. They charged me $0.56 for the taco and $0.90 for the enchilada. When I called the waiter over (who does not speak great English) and asked him why he didn't tell me there was an up-charge on getting steak. He just had nothing but excuses and then instead of fixing it he just said we had to talk to the manager.

When we approached the manager and told him want happened he only had excuses as well. "He said like at the store when you get beef you have one charge and when you get steak, there is another charge." I am not question that there was an up-charge (except the fact they didn't tell me about it, so I could make a decision on whether I wanted the extra cost) but the fact the charge me two different prices. So instead of doing the honorable thing and take the higher extra charge, he (manager) took the cheaper charge off and charged with the higher amount. The total should have been $4.99 + $1.75 + Tax = Final Amount (Friends Total)

That was very dishonest of this store and with this I will never eat there again. Me and my friend went there quite a bit either for lunch, dinner, or just a snack and we have never had a problem with them. I had a problem when I first came to this store because they would not tell you about any additional charges but they fixed it when I came back.

So that is why me and my friend are shocked with this behavior and her and I will being going to the Mexican restaurant on Timber Drive from now on. I would have liked to been told there was an extra charge for the steak and not taken advantage of after telling him ( Mr. Mariano) I am...

Stay Away! From first look el dorado looks like a hole in the wall, in most cases this is a good thing for finding good authentic Mexican food. However this was not the case. The inside was old, outdated and sketchy. We were seated to a semi dirty table with ripped up seats in the back. We were given old menus that were about to fall apart. When I recieved my food (simple nachos with cheese and jalapeños) it looked very unappetizing. The cheese on top of the soggy chips looked like regular shredded cheese that had been heated in the microwave; it had. There was also a little bit of chunky queso on the bottom of the plate that the chips were soaked in. The chips were not crisp, the queso tasted like it had gone bad and the jalapeños were stale. Not being able to finish even half of the disgusting dish I tried a bite of my brothers quesadilla. The tortilla and shredded chicken were dry but the inside was soggy and dripping. It is safe to say that I will never return to this wanna be Mexican restaurant. The only thing this establishment had going for it was the decent staff (although they were very slow with very little customers). Literally the WORST Mexican food I’ve ever ate in my entire life. I got a Torta (Mexican Sandwich) and it tasted like a 12 year old made it. There was Kraft Singles on it with canned Jalapeños including some nice aged lettuce. Other than the food the scenery was Grotesque. It felt as if I was in a old persons home and everyone was dying. No Music WHATSOEVER it was probably the most awkward setting possible. The waitress also tried to charge me and my significant other for things we never ordered. Although their sanitation rating was a 92.5 I literally think the man who inspected this place was paid off because there was food all over the floor including the stained carpet. I feel blatantly disrespected they served me this food and expected me to pay for it. 100% do not recommend a two year old has more craftsmanship than these chefs.
