Chef Peng Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Garrett

We visited Chef Peng Chinese Restaurant in Garrett for the fort thine ever. What a huge disappointment. First of all, the restaurant was so HOT. No air flow what’s so ever. Then My husband ordered the Sesame Crispy Chicken with fried rice. I ordered the Orange Chicken with no rice, subbing the Mushroom Fried Rice. Nasty. So nasty. All of it. The chicken itself was so crispy all you got was deep fried breading of that was on the chicken mostly, wasn’t chewable at all. The orange chicken did NOT taste like orange chicken at all. No where even close. I don’t even know what it was honestly. The sauce had so much sugar in it. Disgusting. Oriental Chinese in Auburn knows how to cook it better. Needless to say. I didn’t eat it. The food was over cooked. I typically love extremely crispy Crab Rangoon and Orange Chicken, General Tso’s or Sesame Chicken. This was beyond crispy, which gave it a satisfying crunch—but in addition to a slightly burnt fried flavor on every fried item. Each of the chickens listen above were extremely similar in flavor, so I would not recommend getting more than one. The Cashew Chicken was prepared better, with lots of vegetables, but the veggies had a mushy consistency and the chicken didn’t seem like it was very hot. The staff seemed disjointed and stressed out, especially as dinner got busier. Multiple checks were confused or mismatched with people as I watched from my table. The service was so bad we ended up leaving. The waitress actually took our menus handed them to next table and never came back for more than ten minutes. Then she took the peoples order she gave our menus to. Then after five more minutes I asked if we could order. She came over with a bad attitude and asked what we wanted. I told her it would be nice if we could have our menus so we knew what we wanted. I was complaining to my date. A lady heard me and said she has been waiting for more than 25 minutes for a carryout order. The waitress messed up the order so the cook had to come out. That was the last straw.
