I read about the new opening in The Patch and decided to give it a go. We usually drive down to Edison or up to Jersey City for Indian food so we were pleased to try somewhere closer. Clove Garden didn’t disappoint. It was authentic Indian food. We could smell the spices from the dining room, and our hunger immediately doubled. The staff isn’t big, so service isn’t fast but that’s ok. I don’t expect fast food service from small, independent restaurants. I expect good food and good customer service, and that’s what we received. They were preparing food, working the phones, and filling Uber Eats orders simultaneously. There was a lot of action for a Monday evening on a winter day. Maybe because it was MLK day and everyone was home? Or maybe it’s because the food is that good. We had the chicken madras, mixed tandoori grill, palak paneer, and garlic naan. As is my taste preference, I asked for extra spicy. My significant other asked for spicy. My food was definitely spicy, but not all the way turned up like I like it. I understand the caution though because people often ask for extra spicy and then ask for a refund because it’s too hot. I add Carolina Reaper & Scorpion pepper to my food so my tolerance for heat is very high. Nevertheless, the food was excellent. Seasoning went all the way through each dish and none of the meats were overcooked. You could taste the layers of ingredients. No one ingredient overpowered the other. It was completely balanced in terms of texture and spice. The portions are generous so you won’t leave hungry. We enjoyed everything. The space is small. If you blink, you’ll miss it. It can hold 16 diners inside. If gave us that NYC vibe where you could end up dining with a stranger if the place gets busy. I don’t mind, but I’m throwing it out there as a possibility. You no longer need to go to Edison or JC to satisfy your craving for Indian food. Go ahead and add Clove Garden to your...

Read moreI've wanted to check Clove Garden out every time I have visited Garwood. I'm so glad I did. I ordered the pepper fry appetizer with chicken. The owner asked if I liked spicy and I said absolutely! The pepper fry chicken was very flavorful and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Cilantro, green peppers black peppercorns, and Indian spices gave this appetizer its delightful flavor. The owner gave me some basmati rice to have with the chicken and also packed a little dessert in my take out package. (Thank you very much) The hospitality did not end there. While I waited for my chicken, I was brought a mango Lassi. This is a mango yogurt drink and I could see myself getting hooked on this refreshing drink. Thank you, Clove Garden. I wish you much success with your restaurant and I will...
