China King — Restaurant in Gastonia

Yesterday two coworkers and I ordered takeout from this restaurant. It was a horrible experience I do not suggest for any of you to eat here because something is not right.

We called it in and they had everything ready and bagged up when I arrived, which was a nice impression and always great when you're on a lunch break. I did not get a receipt though and its easy to forget to ask for one when you are making sure the order is right, getting sauces, all that. When we got back to the office my coworker tried her beef entree. It was the most disgusting thing she's ever ate and had a very nasty smell (like rotten). She immediately went back to explain in hopes of swapping it out for something else or for a refund. The girl stated "i'm sorry but nothing can be done because how do I know this isn't from yesterday?" 🤔 When she knew because we JUST PICKED IT UP. She left because with an hour lunch break at that point its almost over. She later called and asked for a manager. She was hung up on by the same girl who did not handle the problem initially. She called right back and explained that she had just called and ask for a manager, and was hung up on, and that she was the one there earlier with the problem.

After a trip back up there and 2 phone calls, and not ever even talking to a manager, that girl ended up saying for her to come back and she would replace or refund.

Horrible way to treat your customers. That was rude, inconsiderate for her time, and very unprofessional. Her whole lunch break was taken up by this so she had to wait until after work to return to the restaurant.

Do not waste your time OR money because they do not care...

I used to use another place by food lion... Not name bashing but those who know will know.

This place uses fresh chicken and fries it themself, the difference is fantastic. The pork fried rice is exactly as it should be. The prices are super low, they are super quick, and right next to walmart! Super convenient.

I won't be using any other chinese food place in gastonia anymore. I just wish they delivered! To be fair, NO chinese food places in Gastonia deliver.

as for those complaining about "rude" service, they need to really reflect upon themselves about cultural and language differences. Chinese folks from my experience are VERY straight forward and to the point. with that said, YOU ARE EATING THE FOOD, not bringing them home to mama.

Food is OK, but the service is awful, woman always rushes you off the phone, and tells you what you should order, I have had to hang up in the middle of ordering several times because of the way she's spoke to me. Whenever she takes my order I expect to be frustrated, the man who has taken my order always is polite and understands that customers pay their money and deserve respect. I have worked in customer service for years and worked with Asian companies and still cannot deal with her. Its sad because we only ate here since moving to Gastonia and recommended to others and they have said they didn't get past the initial calling in to order either.. Embarrassed that I sent them your way.... Have to find a new Chinese restaurant now because I refuse...
