Jake & Jill’s BBQ — Restaurant in Gaylord

Spent a night in Gaylord passing through to the UP. After 700 miles it was best to stop found this place on a Google search and based on reviews decided to visit. Wow this time reviews spot on. The owners were friendly and warm upon arrival. As good as that makes you feel the food took it to another level. Not sure where to start. The ribs were the best I have had in years served without sauce so you have control. Really did not need sauce but the sauce provided on the side was equally excellent. The special that day was smoked meatloaf and I have no words to express how good it was, flavourful and well seasoned truly outstanding. The beans as a side may be the best I have ever eaten. Very unique flavor and not too sweet they were excellent. I could go on but will wrap it up. Go early as they do run out of stuff (not a surprise, so good). Only regret is that we live so far away. This place is INCREDIBLE. It's honestly the best BBQ I've ever had. You won't disagree. FULL STOP.

I tried 1/4 lb servings of everything (because it was my first time) based on my wife's ravings about it. Holy cow, there wasn't a scrap left. I even got a slice of their peanut butter pie, and man oh man, it clearly beat my late mom's version. She held a high bar in that area (and her biscuits and gravy).

Sadly, she's now been de-crowned with one of her recipes. I hate to admit it.

The owners are really cool, and very friendly. The guy actually came out and chatted with us. It was like being invited to a family or friend's back yard for a BBQ.

Only imagine if you then became hopelessly obsessed with being invited to the next get together.

Went here for the first time yesterday with my sister in law & my brother. It may be a small place but there are a couple tables inside, cute, and clean. Customer service was great, we didn't wait long for our food, just a few minutes. I ordered the bbq pulled pork with traditional sauce & a slice of cornbread. Not even exaggerating when I say it was the BEST bbq pulled pork I've ever had! Decent serving of meat, 99% meat to fat ratio, tender and the taste perfection! Then the cornbread...it was not only moist, but also dense, and delicious! Only thing that would make it better is if they made honey cinnamon butter to order with it. I'll be honest my fat self went back up & ordered more meat & another piece of cornbread to go! Definitely stop here if you have the chance.
