Gaylord City Elk Park Viewing Area — Attraction in Gaylord

Update: We returned in October around 5:30 pm. Crappy, cold, wet day. But the partial herd were gathered around the feeding area. The Alpha Bull put on quite the exhibition, chasing off 2 younger males, and Buhlinge several times. I love stopping at the Elk Park Viewing Area, whenever I'm up this way.

How fitting is it these interesting beasts were grazing, resting, and napping adjacent to the Elks Lodge. Lol! Found that rather amusing not sure if that was planned or a fluke. Enjoyed our visit and was glad that they had room to roam despite the fact that they were gathered together in a small shady woodland for optimal viewing. It was our first even though we had stayed in Gaylord before while chasing the Aurora. Just ventured out for a day trip after a long night at the Dark Park...

We've never seen elk before, so we were very glad we stopped to see them on a quiet weekday morning. The small herd of 20 or so were resting in a shaded corner of the enclosed 108 acre area. There were several young bucks, a bull with a big rack, 20 points I think, and quite a few does with young ones.
