Update: We returned in October around 5:30 pm. Crappy, cold, wet day. But the partial herd were gathered around the feeding area. The Alpha Bull put on quite the exhibition, chasing off 2 younger males, and Buhlinge several times. I love stopping at the Elk Park Viewing Area, whenever I'm up this way.

Enjoyed our visit and was glad that they had room to roam despite the fact that they were gathered together in a small shady woodland for optimal viewing. Read moreWe've never seen elk before, so we were very glad we stopped to see them on a quiet weekday morning. The small herd of 20 or so were resting in a shaded corner of the enclosed 108 acre area. There were several young bucks, a bull with a big rack, 20 points I think, and quite a few does with young ones.
