I really wanted to give this place a 4 star until I seen the rude comments left by the owner on reviews who didn't glow him up. First off this is not a good look for you and is a quick way to kill a business. Where is the professionalism? Had I known you were the owner/manager whatever I would've talked to you about our terrible service in person. Which is the only reason you were getting a 4 star instead of a 5! However I've seen you comment you touch every table, yet you didn't come to ours. You stood in that sliding doorway and looked at us a couple times with our empty drinks sitting on the edge of the table and didn't offer refills. We had to flag another server down for those since our server seemed to visit every table of hers more than once but ignored us. She came to get our order and we started with mozzarella sticks, which were great. Someone else brought those to our table. Then she finally came back after some time to take our food order well after we had already gotten our appetizer. Again, a different server brought our food out (same server who grabbed us refills). A while later she came back and asked if everything was ok, after we were done eating so we asked for our check since we didn't know if/when we'd see her again. She literally came to our table 3 times yet seemed to be chatting up all the other tables. The food here was delicious and I had really high hopes as I do love wise guys as a guy from Illinois myself it was right up my alley. The food is excellent quality and that italian beef is filling. Not sure what another reviewer had experienced but mine was full and delicious. I normally don't say things to servers about their service because everyone takes everything so personally rather than constructive criticism. However attentiveness is something she can definitely work on. It's not even like you guys were super busy. I'm sure you'll reply back with your snarky response like you have several others but just know it's not a good look. Word of mouth spreads fast and these reviews don't do you any justice. With all the places closing down in this town I wouldn't want to be acting the way you have been on here. I will say again in closing, this place has fantastic food and definitely give them a try. Next time I receive bad service here I will be sure to call you over and have that chat, as I am someone who doesn't need to run to the internet. Good luck with your business and please keep it professional! Have...
Read moreIf you’d told me a year ago that I’d find a slice of Chicago’s culinary soul in Georgetown, Texas, I’d have laughed. But Red Door Kitchen by Wise Guys has proven me wrong—and I couldn’t be happier about it. As a self-proclaimed Chicago-style food fanatic since age 13, I’ve been chasing that perfect Italian beef sandwich ever since Al DiMaria, my old boss at Di Maria’s in Carlsbad, California, introduced me to one back when I was a dishwasher. That first bite sparked a love affair that deepened during my Navy days in Great Lakes, Illinois, where I’d escape to Chicago to devour the city’s iconic flavors. After moving to Texas post-Navy, I resigned myself to a life without a decent Italian beef—until Bill Nychay opened Wise Guys in Round Rock and reignited my hope.
Bill, a true Chicago food evangelist, promised he’d bring his magic to Georgetown, and with Red Door Kitchen, he’s delivered in spades. My daughter and I hit the soft opening on Tuesday, March 5th, 2025, and we were so blown away that we went back again last night, March 6th. Two visits in three days might sound excessive, but when the food’s this good, it’s just not enough.
Let’s talk about that Italian beef sandwich: dripping with rich, savory jus, piled high with tender beef, and cradled in a roll that soaks up every drop without falling apart—it’s a masterpiece that transports me straight back to the Windy City. The menu doesn’t stop there; every bite, from the deep-dish pizza to the hot dogs dragged through the garden, screams authenticity and care. The atmosphere nails that Chicago vibe too—cozy yet lively, with a gritty charm that feels like home if home were a bustling Midwestern tavern.
What sets Red Door Kitchen apart, though, is Bill himself. He’s not just the owner; he’s the heart of the place. You’ll find him there every day, chatting with customers, making sure every plate meets his exacting standards. His hands-on approach isn’t just refreshing—it’s a promise kept. When he told me he’d open in Georgetown, I believed him, but I didn’t expect it to feel this right.
I’m beyond grateful Bill brought this gem to our town. Whether you’re a Chicago-style devotee or a curious newbie, do yourself a favor and visit Red Door Kitchen by Wise Guys. You won’t just leave full—you’ll leave...
Read moreI recently dined at Red Door Kitchen, a Chicago Italian style eatery. In great hopes for a satisfying meal, the experience left much to be desired. While I understand that they are still in their "soft opening", the service and food quality need significant improvement.
We were seated quickly, and we were acknowledged in a decent amount of time. We ordered 2 waters and an unsweetened iced tea and an order of Spicy Pickles as an appetizer for the table. The pickles arrived cold and overly greasy, and cut into thin matchstick-sized pieces, far from appetizing.
For our main course, we ordered a Slaw Dog with tater tots and two Adult Grilled Cheese sandwiches served on Texas Toast with fries. Let's start with the Slaw Dog…the hot dog was overcooked, and while ordering, we asked the server if the jalapeños that came on the dog were raw or pickled, she said pickled. Well, the jalapenos were raw, exactly what we did not want. The tater tots suffered the same fate as our spicy pickles, lacking the crispness one expects when ordering tots, overly greasy and cold.
The adult grilled cheese sandwiches on "Texas Toast" – these were especially disappointing. Instead of being served on thick Texas Toast, they arrived on upside-down hamburger buns with barely melted cheese and only one side toasted.
Adding to our frustrations, one of our waters came in a cracked glass, and early on when we requested ketchup, it was forgotten, and we had to ask again. We mentioned our dissatisfaction with the pickles to the server, and while we weren’t charged for them, the server was dismissive and never offered to involve a manager. Throughout our meal, no one checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed.
We completely understand that soft openings are meant to work out the kinks, but attentive service and basic food preparation...
