Buckner’s has changed their pricing to the same price for all meals. It is now 19.95 on all days they are open for lunch or dinner. Last year it was $14.95 for Thursday or Friday lunch. $16.95 for supper or weekend lunch or dinner.
Date of visit: Saturday, March 27, 2021 We are moving into the local area and wanted something very good. I went through the reviews for restaurants on another service and discovered Buckner's Family Restaurant. It had hundreds of reviews and nearly 5 stars. It is also southern homestyle food and that is my absolute favorite. The wife and I drove about 10 miles, checked in and waited our 30 minutes for a table. While outside they have several areas setup for individuals or families to do things. Some picnic tables, corn hole, several stations for some game where you catch a silver dollar size ring on a string onto the hook it came from by swinging it towards it. It was very nice to watch other individuals, children etc having fun, laughing. The local area doesn't have a mask ordinance and it was very refreshing to be honest to feel like it was back to the norm. The employees wore masks for those concerned and social distancing was asked to be practiced.
We were asked if we wanted our own table or willing to sit with others. Duh, of course we are willing to sit with others and meet new people. We meet a very nice couple who lived about 30 minutes away from the restaurant, and we had an absolute blast talking and eating together.
The Saturday menu was fantastic. Everything, and I mean everything was incredible. Pulled pork, breaded chicken, stewed tomatoes, boiled potatoes in white gravy, creamy style shoepeg corn, Mac and cheese, butter peas, green beans, coleslaw, apple cobbler, cornbread and rolls, sweet tea or lemonade. The chicken was insanely succulent. Apple cobbler, oh man, that cobbler.
Our server just kept bringing food asking us nonstop if we were good. She was on her game the whole time. Friendly as can be.
Thank heavens this will only be about 7 miles from our house because this will be a weekly trip for take out/curbside pickup they offer.
It is so good to get back to this side of the states. We especially love down south where the weather is beautiful, everyone is awesome, the food is incredible, and things move at a better pace for enjoyment of life. P.S. Never move to the Phoenix area. It sucks the life...
Read more11/22/2024. We went on a Saturday night were seated and less than 15 minutes. They asked us did we want to sit alone or sit with other people? I said we would sit with other people. It’s only the second time that I have since Covid was so big. The people we sat with was a man and his elderly mother and then a lady that had come to Jackson for a funeral. Was there alone to eat Before she went back to Warner Robins. They were very nice people. One thing really bothered me though and I will probably go back to sitting alone. The man blew his nose at the table 3 different times and that just kind of bothered me I’ve just never seen that done before and kind of cringed , thinking it was really gross. I do think they have the best slaw I have ever eaten, and all of their food is delicious. They normally fill up your bowls on the round table, but for some reason the first time our food came out it didn’t even make it to all of us before the bowls were empty, so I don’t know why we were going so easy on the food, but times we ran out and the waitress had to bring us more. All of us at that table were senior citizens. Maybe they thought we were not going to eat much but it was aggravating to run out of food so often I’ve never had that happen there before It is really a treat to go to Buckner and always has been ever since I’ve lived in Jackson. I’ve never...
Read moreMy family has dinner here for the first time in about 7 years. It's a decent all-you-can-eat southern / family style dining experience. I'd say it's better than other buffets such as Golden Corral because the food is fresh, but I did find the price a bit steep at $20 per person. What to expect: There's almost always a 30-60 minute wait. Tables seat about 8 people. They ask you if you mind being seated with another party if there's just a few people in your party, which is very courteous. The menu stays about the same, I think. There's a lazy Susan in the center of the table with all the many bowls of food so you can turn it and get whatever you want without disturbing anyone to pass the bowls. Our courses were 2 meats: fried chicken breasts and pulled bbq pork; rolls and cornbread; macaroni and cheese; coleslaw; small whole buttered potatoes; green beans; black eyed peas; creamed corn; stewed tomatoes; and apple cobbler. Drink choices were tea, water and Coke. The service was excellent. If any bowl became empty while we were actively eating, the server promptly replaced it with a full bowl. Additionally, they were very quick to refill our drinks. Overall we enjoyed it very much, but for the price per person, we prefer to eat somewhere where we can choose our meal and have it...
