McDonald's — Restaurant in Georgia

Everything about this location is terrible. They never get your order right, wait times are ridiculous and the staff is slow and rude. I only stop here because my daughter likes to after school sometimes. Today in particular made me mad enough to write a review here. We went through the drive thru and ordered a chicken nugget happy meal and 2 hashbrowns. When I got to the window the girl told me they had to cook the hasbrowns and it would take 2 minutes so for me to pull up. Whatever, it’s fine, but she didn’t even give me the other food that was already ready. So, we pulled up and waited, and waited and waited. After 10 minutes I got tired of waiting and went in. Mind you, they weren’t busy. I stood at the counter and waited for someone to acknowledge me. The cashier never did. I flagged down the girl from the drive thru and told her I still had not gotten my food. She looked confused and said ok. A few minutes later the maintenance man came up and said he had to cook more because he dropped them. Not sure why he was up there anyway, but ok. I tell him I also had a nugget happy meal that I never got so he fixed that and told me he’s bring my hashbrowns as soon as they came up. He was nice enough, but at this point I was done. While I was waiting an older gentleman came up and ordered a senior coffee. The girl said it’s .46 and he gave her a $1 bill so she rang it in and then he handed her a penny. She stood there for a minute and looked completely lost. Then she called over the maintenance man and asked him to come do the change. She said “he gave me a dollar and a penny and I already had opened the drawer and I can’t do all that”. He said just give him the change and walked away. It took her a minute and the gentleman finally just told her how much change to give him. I mean really?! Oh, and there was also an order of 15 sandwiches that were coming up and the same cashier was like why are there so many chicken sandwiches? She was worried about putting them in a bag while there were customers waiting on food ahead of that. Someone in the kitchen finally told her not to worry about it and to get the other peoples food out. Just a giant mess. I’m not sure where the manager was at this time. I didn’t see one there myself. I just old my daughter we would not be coming back anytime soon, if ever. Save yourself the trouble and go...

The owner of this location really needs to spend A LOT of time in this store training the management team & staff. It is consistently one of the worst fast food establishments around (including all of Athens). Very disorganized which makes them incredibly inefficient. You would think the restaurant that invented "fast food" would have a no fail system of best practices in place by now but McDonald's has definitely fallen way behind especially this location. The last few visits to this location has resulted in very long wait times & my order being incorrect 50% of the time. Decided to try the dining room to see if it was better than the drive thru - sadly it was worse. Waited for our food for nearly 15 mins before having to ask about it. Waited some more. Told the girl what our order was. Came back with the wrong items. Had to wait more. Finally just got our money back & left. During this time another dine in customer had to ask about his order. Told the employee this was the longest he had ever had to wait, another customer came in from the drive thru b/c things were left off her order, a third customer in the dining room had items missing from her order & another guy came in waited a few mins, said some curse words & left (all in about a 30 min time span). I felt bad for the employees as this is obviously a lack of training & accountability from the owner/upper management of this location. Just took my boys to the vet for heart worm test. They don’t go outside very often, just to do their business. I don’t worry much too much about in the colder months. They were really good boys, well as good as they could be I guess. Scout cried a lot; but he got through it. He is a big sissy. Afterwords I decided to run through the Watkinsville McDonald’s drive-through and get a plain double cheeseburger for the boys. I used to buy two cheeseburgers for them but I learned that one double cheeseburgers is a dollar cheaper. Works for me. I got a quarter pounder combo for myself with a large Coke. I haven’t eaten McDonald’s in a long time. I don’t eat fast food very often. It’s really not healthy. But I was surprised this time; the burger was really, really good. It was hot and fresh and the bun was as soft as any I’d ever seen. The fries were hot, fresh and crispy and the Coke Zero was delicious. I’ve always liked McDonald’s fountain drinks. They have a reputation online for being really good. You can google that. ☺️ I think that reputation is well deserved. I got a free apple pie with the combo and I hope it’s as good as I remember.
