Price is good for the food you get. You can get a meat and 3 "veggies/sides" for under $10. Food has a lot more flavor than what you would get at a chain restaurant. They do have separately priced desserts, but a couple of the side selections are desserts. So I got fried chicken, mashed potatoes, fried okra and German chocolate cake. The only thing that I didn't like was that they didn't have chicken and dressing the last two times we went. It is really good and I was really hoping to get it again. Still great 11/3/23. Chicken and dressing, lots of cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and white gravy, collard greens and yellow cake with chocolate icing. All well seasoned and homemade. So much better than what you get at a chain restaurant and at a better price too. Just remember to bring cash since cards aren't accepted. Where else can 3 people eat for just under $30 not including tip. *11/8/2024 Chicken and dressing, mashed potatoes and white gravy, collard greens and fried okra. Everything is well seasoned. Still great. This time we tried the Wet Coconut Cake. It was yummy too. In case you were wondering, it isn't a soggy kind of wet. It is just really moist like it is filled with moist sweet goodness. 2 people had Meat and 3 (one added an extra helping of chicken and dressing) plus a slice of wet coconut cake to share was $29.75 before tip.Came in very hungry so didn't think about taking pictures until after plates were empty. Left a...
Read moreMy wife & I stopped at Mike's to grab breakfast, to go before we hit the road back to Florida. They were only accepting cash at the time, I'm sure that's no longer the case as I post this. Mike's was a lil southern down-home restaurant with an amazing southern menu. I was sooo upset that I couldn't stay longer to try everything. What I did have, was nothing short of great! Had the tenderloin biscuit, blueberry pancakes, eggs, and cheese grits. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend trying one of their biscuit sandwiches. I believe their biscuits may be one of their specialties. I had a cup of black coffee as well. They have great coffee for sure, drinking it black helps you gauge the quality a little better, it was great coffee. The staff there was very polite, they greeted me upon entry and served our food up super fast. Mikes is of smaller size and not a fancy spot so don't expect a swanky setting. What you can expect is good breakfast food and good service. I forgot to mention how affordable they are, which made it all the better. Nothing seemed marked up as all other items...
Read moreThe food truly was southern and home-style. Our waitress seemed to be the only server in our half of the restaurant but she handled it with superb efficiency. The prices were so low we were shocked when we went to pay the bill. Three of the four adults in our group had the lunch special, which we never actually knew what the price was.. Four of us and one 4 year old who had a kid's meal ate for 40 dollars. You could not do this at Chick Fil A. Some sides were out (corn casserole, okra...also salmon patties), but it was one pm and we understood. The ONLY negative with this restaurant is that it truly is a local place, and with the big value for your buck, LOTS OF SENIORS, so between the locals and seniors, we were acutely aware of lots of cold stares when our one year old did her one year old thing....we really felt the sting of disapproval all around us. A little Muzak or sound system would be nice in the background. Everyone ate pretty quietly, while throwing eye daggers at my one year...
