First the owners are crooks! Nowhere in their establishment (unless they finally did something after my visit) is there a posting letting you know there would be a charge if you used your DEBIT/CREDIT card. I did use my debit card. So, I was charged $2.64 and my cousin was charged $3.99. I didn't realize this was going to happen nor did my cousin. Nowhere on the itemized statement did they acknowledge the potential charge if you used your cards. So, I was unaware this happened until I started thinking about the amount on my receipt. I unfortunately had left by then. I called because I wanted to know why I was charged for more then what I should have been. The manager Nick at first had no idea what the discrepancy would have been until it dawned on him. He was really nice and did apologize and stated that yes, they really should have a posting somewhere. I guess this is something new. He then stated it was on the receipt but was a small acknowledgement about a charge and that was the only place they placed it. I said well the waitress should have stated to us that there would be a charge because I would have paid in cash. But, I was never given that opportunity. This acknowledgment Nick spoke about was on one of the three receipts I was given. However, I didn't see that nor did my cousin. I looked over the itemize info of what we got and it sure wasn't stated there. So, honestly not sure where it was because they never returned that itemize receipt to us for me to really see again. I called back twice and spoke to Nick because that really ticked me off...it was the principle of the matter. I asked for a refund and he stated very nicely that he didn't see that happening. I asked to have the owner call me and again was told that wouldn't happen. So, beware of this scam at this restaurant. And honestly the food wasn't worth the original low price of $10 that they recently jacked up to $17. And I do know that the amount that they charged for my particular itemized bill was double what the bank or card company would charge them because I own my own business. Totally unacceptable thieves. I sure hope they don't try to use the card fees as a deductible on their taxes when they're actually getting the money from the customers...
Read moreFor the food , very good Hibachi and tonight we had one of the best chefs who was very entertaining. The place was busy and we were patient with drinks and service while we enjoyed ourselves. Overall the food and service as fine. The bill was the issue. The reason I only gave two stars is they charge a 3.99% credit card fee. In my many meals and years of dining out , including business dinners and entertaining , NEVER have I seen a restaurant impose such an unfair fee. It is not in the menu or printed on a sign anywhere. The menu didn’t show a cash price for the entree vs a credit price .The staff didn’t inform us of the penalty for using credit cards. It’s simply a way to take advantage of the customer. In the industry , credit cards are preferred because of the way it expedites the process, causes higher total tabs and means your employees don’t have to handle all cash. To put the fee in the check after the card is run is both sneaky and greedy. I even used my debit card which can be run as a credit or debit card but no one asked if I wanted to use as “debit”.
I know the restaurant pays fees to VISA but that is a known cost of doing business. Maybe they are hoping people don’t notice , but I was shocked and will not be back as long as they keep this...
Read moreTotally disappointed. I ordered takeout from this restaurant a few months ago and the food was terrible. I understand people have off days, so I have them the benefit of the doubt and tried again earlier this week. Mistake. My experience was just as bad the second time around. The staff was incredibly short, seemingly bothered, and unhelpful while ordering. I ordered the shrimp “fried rice” which was hardly fried/had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. I also ordered a double order of rice (and confirmed it several times), yet received LESS than a normal portion. My brother and dad both ordered food as well and were equally unsatisfied. Hibachi usually serves more than you can eat in one sitting, yet all 3 of us were still hungry and needed something else upon finishing our meal. The 3 of us all ordered some variation of fried rice (for carry out, so we did not have the true hibachi experience) and spent almost $90 (before tip). I’ve actually never left a negative review before, but I felt this was necessary in hopes of preventing others from making the same mistake we did. Save your money and go...
