Tonight I ordered through DoorDash. I chose Willie Jewels because I have had good experiences in the past. However tonight was different. If I could give zero stars I would. My order was delivered sealed. However several items were missing. My Doordasher graciously agreed to go back to the store to retrieve the $25 of missing items on a $60 order. Upon returning to the store he was refused the missing items and told it wasn’t their problem. According to him they were very rude. I then called Willie Jewel’s. The phone was picked up and answered with a hello but then ignored for several minutes while they took other orders. Finally they came back to the phone and said “I told you to hold.” They did not. I was transferred to Rita. I explained what happened. She again said that it wasn’t her problem and that DoorDash messed up. I explained again that the bag was sealed. So the mess up was on Willie Jewels, not the poor delivery guy. While I was assertive, I was calm in explaining the problem again since it was not registering for her. Rita got very aggressive and doubled down saying “We double checked it here and we’re not responsible once it leaves the restaurant.” I explained that the failure was on Willie Jewels not DoorDash. She got angrier and said “What do you want?!”. I replied that I was hoping to find quality customer service, accountability, and possibly even an apology for the mistake. She laughed and in a sarcastic tone said “well I’m sooorrrryyy.” And then hung up on me. No offer was given to rectify their mistake. Just passed it off onto the poor guy trying to do his job and deliver the food. This is the last time I’ll order from there. Rita, I hope you have a...
Read moreI was told this place was the best 'non chain' restaurant in the area so I sped to the location. Tucked away behind the circle K gas station, with ample parking, the building gave off strong southern nostalgia vibes, remnants and articals of times gone by. Inside, more of the same, clean and well lit, but what was noticeably absent was the smokey smell of bbq. The staff were attentive and welcoming, warm smiles and soft voices greeted me. I ordered the brisket, another order of chicken and a few sides, corn nuggets, potato salad and macaroni and cheese. The first plate of brisket was clearly old meat that had seen better days, foul smelling and leathery in texture, I gestured to the server to please take it away, honestly I was highly offended that as a human being she would serve me something not even fit for an animal. But she politely took the platter of poison away and in less than a minute returned with a fresh, hot platter of tender juicy brisket! I wondered why she didn't serve me this at the start. Everything was present with the brisket but the flavor, I've had water with more flavor. Im posting photos to verify my account. On to the bbq sauce, I noticed that the sauce had the name of a local chain known throughout Florida, then I noticed that the side dishes bore the same name..thus is no longer a mom and pop restaurant, it's a chain restaurant disguised as a local joint. The chicken and all of the sides failed the taste test. You may as well go to the chain, you are not going to get a different experience. I didn't make a fuss, I just took the food away and left disappointed, my quest for bbq in the...
Read moreI'm so very much disappointed in what they advertise as Brunswick Stew and the so called Banana Pudding. What they tried to identify as Brunswick Stew was actually beef vegetable soup. What a disgrace!! And absolutely disgusting insult... My ancestors are from the brunswick area we were passing through in travel. With the increase in the cost of food, there's a continuous decline in the quality of your purchase. The banana pudding served in restaurants is a common sentiment among many who prefer the traditional, oven-baked version with a marshmallow topping. What you get now is pre-made pudding mixes: Using pre-made pudding mixes, like Jell-O, which significantly faster and cheaper than making pudding from scratch, yet you charged top quality prices for a spoonful of garbage. I foresee it coming when fewer and fewer people will spend their funds eating out. Establishments are only focusing on profit and reduced labor costs by using pre-made mixes that require less labor and skill to prepare, allowing restaurants to cut costs on staff and quality services. Yet requesting top dollar and no less than 25% tips on every purchase. Regardless if you're dining in or ordering to go. "Make...
