Update Jan 2024: Made a second visit to Rise Up. The bakery smells so good, really good bread baking smell. You can see the sheet pans of freshly baked cinnamon rolls and bread behind the counter. I got the almond croissant - it’s really good, I recommend it if they haven’t run out of it. The croissant dough is nice and flaky and the almond paste is yummy! It is the best almond croissant I have had in Phoenix; it’s hard to find one with good almond paste. The cinnamon rolls are a staple we get, fluffy and right level of cinnamon-y; certainly a shareable size. This time we also got a pain au chocolat.
This was our first visit to this bakery. Made the drive because I’m always looking for a good almond croissant in Phoenix. Unfortunately, they didn’t have almond croissants the day of our visit, so we got 3 cinnamon rolls and 1 kouign amann. I was excited to see a kouign amann that looked pretty authentic from the top. About the baked goods: The cinnamon rolls were very good - an A, a light dough, delicious, and a very good value for money. The kouign amman was caramelized only on the top/surface but the inside was just a croissant dough which was flaky and layered and tasty but it was not rich or caramelized on the inside. About the bakery itself: The bakery was clean, there was indoor seating (we took our stuff to go), the people we interacted with at the counter were friendly and the bakery had a nice bakery smell. I’ll go back if I’m in the area to try their almond croissant and my family will want more...
Read moreA Croissant Revelation: Rise Up Bakery Sets the Bar in Gilbert Tucked away in Gilbert's charming Tuscany Village, Rise Up Bakery isn't just a local spot for baked goods—it's a destination for world-class laminated dough. While the bakery offers an array of treats, from massive cinnamon rolls to specialty bars, the true masterpiece of this friendly neighborhood shop is, without a doubt, the croissant.
The classic Butter Croissant is the benchmark of any true artisan bakery, and Rise Up's rendition is perfection. It achieves that impossible trinity: a shatteringly crisp exterior, an impossibly airy, honeycombed interior, and a rich, pure butter flavor that lingers just long enough. It's the kind of pastry that demands to be eaten immediately, leaving a glorious mess of golden flakes on the plate. Rise Up has earned viral fame for their incredible Croissant Wheels. These inventive, filled, and topped creations—like the Creme Brulee Croissant Wheel or the seasonal Pumpkin Spice version—showcase the sheer versatility of their flawless dough. They offer a unique, dessert-level indulgence while maintaining the structural integrity and flakiness of a true croissant.
Rise Up Bakery consistently delivers quality that genuinely justifies the claim: these are the best croissants in Arizona, period. If you are anywhere near Higley and Guadalupe, do yourself a favor and rise up to this bakery's...
Read moreI was filming content at my coworker's house and he was telling me about this place's snickerdoodle cookies were by far the greatest thing he's ever eaten. He demanded we eat here for lunch and get some snickerdoodles as well lol. I was skeptical because, while I do like cinnamon, it's not my first flavor choice.
We called in to order (2024 and you can't order online? Seriously?). I got a turkey sandwich and he got a California club sandwich (also several orders of snickerdoodles).
The sandwich was tasty. The turkey didn't taste too much like something you'd get out of a Tupperware container at the grocery store. The bread, however, wasn't anything special. It was just a plain roll. For being a bakery, you'd have thought they'd have several bread options. Alas, they really only had like three (I chose the sub roll). They have packaged bread loaves you can buy, but I guess the variety doesn't translate to what you can get for sandwiches. I did appreciate the big ripe tomatoes though.
The snickerdoodle cookies were tasty. They were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. They also were about the diameter of Crumbl cookies, just nowhere near the thickness.
Wasn't blown away by anything here, unfortunately. I remember coming here back in 2019 when I first moved to Gilbert and had the same experience with their...
