Black Rock Coffee Bar — Restaurant in Glendale

I had to change my review from 4 to 1 star.

They stop serving drip coffee around 2pm but stay open till 8pm. But what really made things bad for me was different.

When I get an espresso drink I always order a small, add like 4-5 shots of espresso but, I say prepare it in a large cup so everything fits. I’m still paying for all the small ingredients but adding espresso would overflow the cup.

When I made the order here, I watch the girl making my drink, and had to add more espresso cause the whole drip coffee thing but, she was about to add ice to my frap but I said oh it’s okay, I don’t want to water the espresso, so she made the drink and when she poured it into the lrg cup, she purposely didn’t fill the cup all the way up and left product that I paid for in the machine.

I was like did she really play that game, when I paid for all the ingredients, on top of that there was no whip and she said the fraps don’t come with whip but the last time I got it came with whip.

I came to the grand opening week every day for this location and came once a week since it has been open. But after my experience today, I will never return to this location. I waited in line for 30 minutes with only 2 cars ahead of me and they would not take orders at the window. Finally got to the window and placed my order. I told the girl I was using the $2 drink card we received. She said we couldn’t use it because it was for a different location. Okay, that’s fine I had one left from their location so I changed my order and handed her the card. She brought over another girl and the girl said “we can’t accept this anymore because it is expired” I showed her there is no expiration date written on the card and she said “yeah I know but we just stopped taking these”. So I got my credit card back and left with no drinks and will never go back. Awful customer service. After waiting in line for 30 minutes with a screaming newborn wanting to get out of line but trapped, I couldn’t even get my coffee to get me through the day. Best aspect: Black Rocks have 'significantly' shorter wait than other brands in the area. Will not name drop any brands, but waits at nearby coffee house exceed over 30 minutes regularly for drive-thru.

Highly recommend: mixed berry housemade poptart.

Will give 5 star, excellent everything review with one place for improvement at the end. Always friendly staffing. Good if not better quality ingredients than nearby brands. Nice cafe area inside.

Where you can improve: when I get multiple extra matcha scoops, other brands don't charge but I notice for this chain the price goes up fast. Would prefer to get more matcha scoops for no charge or a capped charge. I'm not asking for a free bag of matcha like other people do to hack other brands, however I would like to get 5 extra scoops without seeing the price jump to nearly $10 for one...
