Some large man acting as the owner was picking a fight with me today. 😬 here's the story...
My boss used to take me here years ago about once a month. I would have the chicken curry sandwich on a croissant and a slice of coconut cream pie. I loved it and have been missing it ever since my boss moved on years ago. Flash forward to today, I had scheduled a meeting with a business partner for our new bi-weekly session to take him to what was one of my favorite spots. I had been looking forward to this all week, and I had planned on taking a bunch of treats to the office.
When we arrived, there was no visible parking available other than a couple spots in front of the bakery. My colleague and I arrived at the same time. There was a bit of confusion about what we should do so I made a completely unserious joke about maybe the 15 minute parking is just a suggestion and this is when the large man exiting the bakery confronted us. He was immediately hostile to the point of me feeling threatened when all he had to do was tell us where we could park. It was seriously over-the-top. Now I can never go back because some large man might try to beat me up. Jeezle Pete's, what's in the water over there!? So sad.
Edited to follow up with the "owner".
I intended to ask about the parking once I got into the shop, but you were berating me over my joke so heavily that I replied, "Why the f you were being so sensitive!?" That is literally the only time I cussed, and you know it. My lewd question still remains. Who's playing the victim now? There's still time for honesty here. Your attitude changed everything. It was a choice. Take...
Read moreStopped in for some breakfast this morning to eat outside with family. The owner was incredibly rude and we were told that if we were ordering breakfast sandwiches, we needed to drive up the street to the “to go” location. My brother in law and his wife had just ordered breakfast sandwiches and were eating them outside. The lady who was behind us in line ordered a breakfast sandwich as we were walking out. Anyway........
Drove up the street to bluebird to go. Ordered 5 breakfast sandwiches. The lady who took our order was clearly upset and was throwing things around the kitchen? We got our food, drove BACK to the cafe to eat with our family, and we only had 4 sandwiches. Called the Togo location and she said she would have it ready for us to pick up. My husband drove over there AGAIN to grab it, and the woman was super catty about it and told him we only paid for 4 and she “misheard” us when we ordered.
What even just happened? Won’t...
Read moreBluebird Bakery is a taste of an America that has been immortalized in Norman Rockwell illustrations. The quaint façade nestled in an historical cul-de-sac within Glendale, beacons you to come in for scratch made pastries and an easy lunch. Jenny and team get going plenty early to ensure that the case is filled with scones, danish, and cookies of many varieties. The various pastries and full sized pies make me want to throw a party just to have more reasons to share this goodness, and keep extra slices for myself!
Lunch is a relaxed affair; inside the cafe, where the original wood interior pieces remind one of a simpler time, or outdoors where you can experience the trains and the happy rumble as they roll by. The Curry Chicken salad is my favorite to be stuffed into a croissant, with some pouring out for my fork to snare. When your family and friends come into the Bluebird Bakery for lunch, PLEASE save room for dessert! ...
