After wrapping up a meeting nearby, I decided to stop at Mom’s Kitchen and Bar for lunch, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. Traveling through for work from Kentucky and the outside sign caught my attention. A heart with an arrow through it with the word Mom’s written into it followed by kitchen off to the right. I had to pull in. It’s a hole in the wall type building but not hidden. Mom and pop style restaurant with one of the friendliest staffs I’ve encountered while traveling. It was breakfast time and I was influenced to get the oatmeal with brown sugar raisins and cranberries to start with. Topped that off with two eggs over easy, jalapeño bacon crispy, jalapeño toast and some hashbrowns. The bacon and toast were like no other. Both were amazing. We stopped there based on reviews and were not disappointed. We got their special of the day and while it had a no frills presentation it tasted great and was a great price. A gentleman whom I assume was the owner came out to talk to us and was super friendly. Asked where we were going, offered suggestions of attractions in the area, and just generally made us feel very welcome. A special call out, their pork rinds are fried fresh and served still crackling. Comparing it to gas station pork rinds is like comparing fresh baked chocolate chip cookies to generic store brand chips a hoy knockoffs. I've never even cared for pork rinds and thought they were great. Don't be discouraged by the exterior, inside is small but well maintained and it is a great place to eat.
