Now the only reason it was not 4 or 5 stars was because of the Caucasian waitress who brought down the entire experience. I had never been inside the restaurant.
I went to dinner with this guy I’ve started seeing and being a school night and us both having obligations to being adults the next day we decided to eat local. It’s right up the road, why not? We decided to dine in, why not? The restaurant itself is simple casual Asian influenced environment. The food was nice and hot when it arrived at our table which is the highest priority for the any dine in experience. I had a Dr. Pepper and my date was drinking sweet tea. (I know the details seem a little dumb but its necessary).
We received our menus when we sat in our booth. Skimming through the options and enjoying small talk a older Asian gentleman came to our table and took our order. He had our drinks brought to us by a petite Asian lady. We are enjoying an exchange of conversation and out of the corner of my eye this figure pops up like something out of a haunted house. I’m talking this lady moved from the corner of the restaurant near the register to our table with the speed of my niece when she hears the Cocomelon intro. She pulls up to our table and extends a plate of food over the table. She blurted out one of the orders at one of the loudest and most obnoxious tones I have heard in a very long time. This being the first encounter she could have at least introduce herself before interrupting the conversation. She spent a majority of our visit arguing with another person who was behind the counter saying things like how her customers are her main focus. But in between arguing she would walk around and look over us without saying anything. One time I looked at her with the ‘Can I help you?’ eyebrow raise. She replied ‘Oh I was just seeing how much you had left on your plate’. What the hell? I’m sorry but what!? That is the first time I have ever heard someone in a restaurant tell me they were seeing how far I was into my food. She wasn’t subtle with her abrasively obnoxious behavior but after the dumbfounding statement she offered to refill our drinks. ‘More sweet tea and would you like more Diet Coke?’ we both declined. And even though he declined she brought him one anyway.
We tried to laugh this all off but it slowly surpassed laughable and got to obnoxious and annoying. She slowly crept up to the table like she needed to hover over our table or we might’ve disappeared without tipping her. She offered refills and I was still eating and grabbed my glass slid it to her and politely accepted her offer for a refill. But of course before I let the glass go I said in that generic sweet southern tone ‘Yes ma’am Dr. Pepper please’. My date declined but again he was ignored and she had his cup filled again. More arguing ensued and as she brought us our check sneaking up in the Quasimodo shuffle. She asked if she could get us anything else and the one time my date actually says yes for a refill.
The experience was uncomfortable with this lady constantly hovering and her interaction was not pleasant. I don’t know why but I prefer the chili’s waitress who got overly absorbed into conversations and mixing drinks which led to her forgetting about us on our first date versus that lady. I don’t know her name but I wasn’t feeling like speaking with her further. I’m all for equity for everyone but professionalism extends to everyone in a workplace environment. She shouldn’t be allowed to argue in the dining area where customers are clearly present. She needs to practice more subtle body language and speak at an appropriate level so not to disturb the peace. As management the restaurant manager needs to either show affirmative action or just terminate that situation. Apparently she is constantly arguing from the dining area with or without customers present. No ma’am.
And this isn’t an argument with whether she isn’t mentally impaired. That’s irrelevant to her behavior being disruptive and inappropriate to the point I was ready to go halfway...
Read moreThe food was ok. If your looking for a small place to eat. The food was brought out very sporadically. There were 4 of us we ordered a few appetizers they all came out separately. That's ok gave us time to chat and enjoy a little 9f each one. . We then ordered food. Because we wantedto make sure we got thr appetizersfirst... I mean let's be honest some times you have to. we had expected the main meal to be brought out at one time. No 1 meal. Then 2 more finally the 4th. All within 20 minutes. It was very busy at one point. I think 10 of 11 tables were full. And it's a small staff but you when your having dinner you want to all be eating at the same time. All and...
Read moreThe flavors and freshness were worthy. Service was attentive, full glasses of water or tea. Empty dishes removed swiftly. However, my friends's Gen. Tso's chicken had NO broccoli. My Moo Goo Gai Pan had NO baby corn, I would have been happy with water chestnuts. My soup came first, great. Then my friend's dinner, before his dumplings appetizer. Then, my dinner. And later, my spring roll appetizer (lovely). Again, flavor was worthy, but not sure that I'll go back. Unless, I bring a shaker of my own red pepper flakes and ask whether well get what is to be expected. Broccoli and baby corn. I'm glad that I didn't order the...
