So I used to love long john silvers as a kid but I also ate catfood as a child. Anyway I've not had ljs in probably 20 years. I drove by today and my inner child screamed do it as my inner adult whispered this is a bad idea. My inner child won. I got a meal that had fish, shrimp, fries, hush puppies, and slaw. The slaw was...OK. it had a...mayo taste to it that was a bit off putting but I've had way worse. The fries were gross. Stale and bland with too many blackened ends. The shrimp was OK. The batter detracted way to much from the flavor of the actual shrimp the cocktail sauce was pretty dang good though. The fish was awful. Talk about a greasy mess. I could feel my arteries clogging with each bite. The second piece wasn't entirely cooked proper so half the breading fell off which as actually a good thing. Half battered it was a bit better....a bit. The hush puppies were of course still excellent. So overall I was pretty unimpressed my inner child is still curled up weeping. The worst part is I know in several hours this greasy mess is going to destroy my guts upon its grand exit. I would only recommend this place to someone who considers fish sticks to be good seafood but no one else. The woman working the drive thru was very friendly. So that bumps it up from...
Read morefirst, for $9, should get more food than you do... then, lobby attendant was CONSTANTLY cleaning - i am all for cleanliness, but for the amount of people in there, there is no way he had to be cleaning as much as he was (could tell he was going over areas that he had either already done, or areas that didn't need it) - this is just spreading unwanted particles into the air, especially while eating, and in the (relative) few moments he wasn't doing that, he was excessively making noise, by either dragging chairs on the hard floor, or clanging trays together i think he was special needs, and i am also all for giving them opportunities, but they need to be at least somewhat trained properly... and finally to top off the visit, a homeless guy i guess had walked in and sat down at a table just inside one of the exit doors, and had dropped his tote bag in front of one of the sets of garbage bins, blocking them, and then the only other set was blocked by, you guessed it, the attendant... overall just not a...
Read moreIt'd been many years since I'd dined out at a Long John Silvers. Growing up in central Indiana in the 60s and 70s my family would eat at the local Long John Silvers nearly once a week. For nostalgic purposes I had a late lunch there not long ago. For starters, I was rather shocked over the prices, many of the simple, basic meals are priced between $7 and $8... and it was precisely the same over-greasy fish products we used to relish back when growing up in the midwest but now tend to have grown into a quest for healthier fare to put into one's body for better nourishment. Tastes pretty good, albeit rather expensive and the same old stuff for decades and decades now. That should hold me...
