This place is a bar first and foremost if you want to eat in. The place is littered with a mass of alcohol advertisements, a drinking bar dominates the restaurant space, and pool table sits in the foreground of the restaurant. If you're into bar environments then you won't mind eating inside the place. If not, you're better off sticking to carry out orders.
The one food that Wave Pizza Co does well are their pizzas which are hand tossed and made with a variety of options. I opted to have one of their few sandwich selections, but was underwhelmed. I had the chicken parm sandwich that turned out to be pretty flavorless. The chicken was under seasoned and the breading on it was tasteless. The bread was too dense and had no flavor to it as well. The french fries it came with was the best thing about the entire meal. My wife ordered a cheese pizza with multiple cheeses that was rather delicious.
The environment was extremely loud even due to the music being turned up too high and several of the patrons having had quite a bit of alcohol. The staff was rather distracted paying the majority of attention to the bar, so as a patron that sat in the dining area it was difficult to get refills for drinks or to speak to any of the wait staff. If you're unlucky enough to not sit at one of their wooden tables you'll end up sitting at a flimsy metal patio table that they have off in the corner of the restaurant. They were extremely uncomfortable and not very sturdy. It felt like the table could flip if you leaned on it too much.
Do yourself a favor. If you want to eat here just order a pizza to go, unless you're interested in sticking around for a...
Read moreI was in Grand Island for a competitive shooting event (USPSA) and a few friends and I Googled pizza. Not wanting cookie cutter chain pizza we decided to give the Wave a try. It was slammed and rightfully so. This is hands down the best pizza I've ever had in my life!
Fri Night - Food took a while to get to us, but the waitress kept us well beered and there was no complaint (the place was at capacity with a line out the door). When we got the food, it was literally a soul moving experience, the pizza was giant, hot and so good.
Sat Night - The next day we were hungry again and since it was so good, instead of trying some other place we went back......and we ordered enough Pizza for our drive back to Denver on the drive home the next day.
Sun - Driving back to Denver was a joy because we had more Wave Pizza!
Fast forward a year - We were back in town for the next years shooting event and made it a priority to eat at the Wave two more times when we were in town.
Seriously I don't know what makes it so special, but whenever I am near Grand Island I will be going to the...
Read moreAbsolutely would not recommend this place to anyone. I had placed an order online for pick up under the impression that they were open. However, because the business owners are irresponsible, I came to pick up my order only to find a closed restaurant. This was around 3:30pm on a Tuesday, well within their listed business hours. There website, yelp, Google, and Facebook all list the same hours, which are incorrect. I had decided that I would seek a refund for the order I placed, however, the phone number was not operational, nor did the website (which is where I placed the order) have any options for this. I had to wait nearly an hour and a half until the actually opened, just to try and request a refund, which I did not receive.
Businesses should be held accountable for irresponsible behavior, such as posting incorrect hours and accepting online order while they are not actually open. No matter how good the food may be, I will never recommend that anyone supports restaurants...
