Mineo's Pizza — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

Be super careful here! Unfortunately, they are not very clean and cross-contaminate foods. I have to say the food was delicious and packed with flavor, but after consuming it, I ended up in the Emergency Room from a very severe allergic reaction. My eyes swelled up so it was hard to see, got itchy, runny nose, and had difficulty breathing as my throat swelled as well. To be clear - I am NOT allergic to anything posted on the ingredients list for what I purchased. I have eaten the same type of pizza at other establishments and never had a reaction. This is why I say to be careful! If you have any sensitivities/dietary restrictions / allergies, do not chance it.

Also when I called them (manager knew about me being in the ER, in addition to another worker) they didn't even say "I'm sorry" so I guess a life-threatening experience isn't a big deal to them. I don't know how long they've been there, but Mineo's looks like it's been in business for a long time. The interior doesn't look like it's been updated in a while. That's fine though, because it's a carryout pizza place. You can tell they take care of it, as the place is super clean! Call to place your order and they answer the phone in a quick and direct manner. They're not rude. They just want to take your oder and get back to making pizza pies! I grew up in Chicagoland so I know what good pizza is. Unfortunately, I haven't found a lot of good pizza places in Grand Rapids. Mineo's on the other hand, actually has some pretty good pizza. They're generous with the toppings and the pizza has a nice thickness to it, without being too thick. I would ask them to make it well done. Without this, the crust seems to be under done. Doesnt matter where ive moved to in west michigan I ALWAYS still end up making the trip over to Mineos a few times a year. It is the best pizza ive ever had. Sauce has a little sweet taste to it, they are generous with toppings, and the bread is the perfect amount of crunch. It’s been the same family and people working there for the last 20+ years and im always happy to support local businesses. Carry out pizza place so dont expect anything special in the waiting area. The ONLY thing that leaves to be desired in my opinion is that the crust can be left on the cutting floor. Just no flavor there. That being said though.
