New China Carry Out (Order Online Available) — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

Slow service, lack of customer service, mediocre food, and over priced.

Was ordering to bring dinner to a friends house. Called in my order at 5:40 and was told 10-15 minutes. Arrived ten minutes later and the place seemed in a panic. I paid for my order and started waiting. My order number was 21. Orders after mine started going out to other unhappy looking customers. As a foodservice manager I felt for the employees. I just assumed they were either short handed or had a mad rush of customers. After an additional 20 minutes, I asked the young woman at the register what was taking so long for my order. She went to the expediter and asked about my order. All I got was something along the lines of “its coming”, but no explanation as to why. she clearly has no customer service skills and needs more training.

Then I began watching the line. The tickets were going back to the kitchen, but not being kept in order. It appeared as though they were just doing what was easier for them first and leaving the larger orders for whenever they had time. My food was all finished except my Kung Pao Chicken. It took another 20 minutes for that to get done. I would have canceled and went elsewhere, but by the time I went through all that, we would have waited even longer for food. And I had people waiting on us.

All told it took and HOUR for my four dishes to be made. At a Chinese restaurant!!?? This place needs to get more organized.

The food was just mediocre at best too. And my Kung Pao tasted exactly like my Cashew...

This place has become a special place to me. for the reason that on my visit here, I couldn't help to notice a lady that works there, that although she was tired because you could see it in her eyes.

She manage to push through it and take care of the customers. by not only remembering the order of the customers inside the store, but also by remembering the customers that had ordered over the phone of there order.

She read back his order without looking at a peace of paper, remembering him of the order which his wife had made over the phone.

And I know this because that customers happened to be a friend of mine that went to pickup his order.

And when it comes to the food it's clean and there fried rice is well combined with onions, vegetables and, even bean sprouts. This is one of those comfort foods places that you want to tell you friends and family about.

But don't just take my word for it, go ahead and try it out I'm sure you...

They say it will take 15-20 minutes, I waited an hour and they still didn't get my order right. They were not following the stores capacity, which is 5. What's the point of giving me a number for my order if you're just going to yell out my order instead of the number? I told her my order was wrong and she argued with me for at least 10 minutes saying that she "knows" she put it in even though she didn't. People walked in 30 minutes after I did and they got their order before mine. Many people waited at least 1 hour to get their food just like I did. I saw 2-3 workers sitting in the back, doing NOTHING, even though the store had at least 7 people in it waiting for their orders. I don't understand why the lady at the cash register answers the phone even though there are at least 12 people (including the inside and outside the store) are waiting...
