It's in the corner of a not so busy street. Parking here is more comfortable pulling in the front however I personally would have backed it. It's easier to pull out with the front view. The inside is small, it's were you will place your oder. If you have questions about the meal they can answer them. They speak English and Spanish. Payment will be in the form of cash or credit card. After you place your oder, go outside and wait for your name to be called. I didn't wait that long for my food. This place does have customers which is a good sign. The food was delicious and yes I would come back so of course I do recommend it.

I’ve always loved Tacos El Cunado - they serve excellent, authentic Mexican food. The classic steak tacos with cilantro/onion on corn tortillas are my favorite. I used to stop at this location a lot when I lived and worked nearby. I was over that way again recently and stopped in for lunch. I was disappointed to see that prices went up a bit and the portion sizes for condiments have gotten much smaller in size. I was charged $0.50 for a tiny, half full container of sour cream! I had 3 tacos and needed to buy multiple containers. It was kind of ridiculous. Still love this place, but hope they rethink this.

This was my first visit. Friendly staff and relatively fast service. Fortunately the weather was good to wait outside. Unfortunately they mislabeled a vegan burrito as chicken and vice versa. Our vegetarian subsequently took a couple bites of the chicken burrito. He ended up throwing up later that night. I ate all of my chorizo burrito but I will not get that again as it was too spicy for me. They were similar in size & price to Chipotle burritos. I'd pick Chipotle over this place if they were right next to each other but I don't think there are any near so this is a good alternative.

Before anything else, let me say that my actual star rating is more like 4 point 5 or point 6.

And, even then, that's only because the place is quite small inside.

Please don't get me wrong here, though. Because, what with the whole pandemic thing still happening (as of this writing), I'm not looking to sit down inside the dining room area of ANY restaurant anywhere.

But, when the time comes that the pandemic is over, there is nowhere to sit down inside this place.

Still, the REAL thing here is the quality of the food here.

Which, in my humble opinion, is quite good.

Plus, most of all... though I like Taco Bell... I know that Taco Bell is just the Americanized version of Mexican food.

By comparison, this place is THE REAL DEAL compared to Taco Bell.

In other words, genuine Mexican food.

For example, you're not going to be able to buy Elotes at Taco Bell.

In fact, there are other authentic Mexican food restaurants in the Grand Rapids area that I've been to that don't sell that.

Elotes is basically corn with additional stuff on it.

I haven't had Elotes since 1 of my 3 visits to Dallas Texas back in the mid 2000s.

They even sell Jarritos soda. I LOVE soda! ESPECIALLY any brand sold in a glass bottle and using real sugar.

Yes, Mexican Coca Cola and Mexican Pepsi is NOT the only Mexican soda pop that is sold in a glass bottle, and using real sugar.

Getting to the point here... if you're looking for good, authentic, Mexican food... I think this little place may be a place you might want...

If someone would have asked a year ago, I would have given 5 stars. The last couple of times my family and I have eaten here, at least one of us, if not ALL OF US, has gotten food poisoning or the stomach flu after eating. It makes me sad because, I think they have some of the most authentic Mexican cuisine in the area! Better hand cleaning practice, maybe? My fiance and I went in on Friday. We ordered our usual, 4 regular Asada tacos and 1 large Asada quesadilla. It was quickly prepared BUT, we noticed that our food sat on the counter, cooked, for a good ten minutes before they got around to giving it to us. Whatever. It happens. I also noticed that the cook, NEVER ONCE, wiped his hands after touching different ingredients. That's a bit disturbing. Add to the fact that, if your order is messed up, they blame the customer lol. Claiming, once you leave, they are no longer responsible. No refunds? That makes little to no sense. I've never been to a place that refuses to take accountability like Tacos El Cunado! They will lose MANY customers due to this policy. We will not be returning, as I am now milking the norovirus, for the second time AFTER eating here, in 6 months. WASH YOUR HANDS! You are spreading virus thru your food and it's disgusting! It's sad because, they have...

I have been a frequent customer of Tacos El Cunado for the past two years. They provide a great selection of authentic Mexican cuisine that has kept me coming back on a weekly basis. However, recently they have failed to meet their standard quality for food and customer service. Being a small set up it is understandable how they can easily become overwhelmed during the popular lunch and dinner times. However, with the addition of new staff they neglect to answer phone calls- or they pick up the phone and hang up (this happened to me nine consecutive times). The new staff also prepares their food much quicker and often lacks the sufficient food inventory to provide the quality of food that was once one of my favorite meals in Grand Rapids. Perhaps this is just a minor hiccup in their process and I hope that the new staff will be able to grow into the roll and bring the quality back to...
