Absolutely one of the best eating experiences I've ever had. We went to The Chive for date night after a random internet search, and oh boy did the world set us up for success. You're immediately greeted by the most friendly staff who were extremely knowledge about their product, process of preparation and even the additional items they sell from OTHER local vendors. The menu gives you some of every flavor you could be craving, and if you leave unsatisfied then it's because you didn't order the food at all. We ordered an 8oz bison burger, a marinated mushroom wrap and some sweet potato chips to share. It. Was. Amazing. Some of the best food I've ever had, and every single bite you take is just a reminder of the care and craft that went into the food. You can't get food like this at a chain, and knowing that my meal supported local farms and businesses made it EVEN BETTER. The burger was incredibly well prepared and seasoned, perfectly juicy to the point of a moist patty without a soggy bun (also homemade, duh) The wrap was an explosion of flavor with different varieties of pickles accentuating the deep richness of the mushroom steak portions, all wrapped up like a present in a crispy and flaky tortilla. It's insanity that this place isn't plastered on KC's top 10 eateries. Oh, and did I mention that there's also an ENTIRE BREWERY there with amazing selections of house-crafted brew? The facility featured a huge dog park, a bochi ball court and a wonderful outdoor dining patio. Inside you can also buy packaged accoutrement to take home (like we did) of jams, sauces, ice creams and so much more. Make this place your next date night. Take it from two -very- satisfied fat kids. I write this review while eating my vegan chia pudding that I ordered to-go. I'm already planning...
Read moreService!! As a family getting acquainted with the area, I can’t tell you how many places we’ve mentioned that we’re there for the first time and they literally just give us a blank stare. Hilda was anything but that, she seemed genuinely excited to have us trying The Chive out. She treated each table in the place so well and was explaining and promoting all you have going on, what a gem she is to have! And the rest of the staff that was in was all smiles and warmth too. The service was just so welcoming, attentive, personal, genuine, engaged from start to finish, friendly, etc. These days I will choose a place with good service over anything else honestly, but the food was certainly delicious as well! And what friendly customers you all have, too! Our 9 month old baby was basically an instant celebrity in there. Please give Hilda and the rest of the crew a pat on the back and tell whoever is responsible for hiring they’re doing a great job with their staff. We felt the love and enjoyed it all, thanks! PS I know this review is about The Chive, but the beer was wonderful, my beer loving husband was impressed with both the Saison and the IPA he tried and the man behind the bar is included in my comments about staff. We will be bringing a growler next...
Read moreOne of a kind experience. I had read a Facebook post recommending this place and the owner chef, love restaurants owned by chefs, always good food. Then a friend said her quilt group had a show there, so off we went this afternoon. Greeted as soon as we came in the door. Took us a minute or 2 to figure out ordering from the food side and you pay as soon as you order and then ordering from the brewery side where we sat. Guys were all friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the Chipotle Chocolate chili...awesome, and shared a bison burger with my friend who had the chicken noodle soup. It was cold out today. I also tried a couple of their beers and decided on their ginger pale ale. That's not exact name and it was good. There were some local friendly guys at the bar and a place to sit outside if the weather had been favorable. We both decided this was a definite come back again, probably many times. Might try out some of their events....
