If you're looking for the perfect spot to enjoy delicious food, great drinks, and a stunning lakeside view, Big Daddy’s Cantina on Lake Grapevine is the place to be! From the moment you arrive, the laid-back atmosphere and friendly staff make you feel right at home.
The food is absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and made with care. We had a little bit of everything, and everything was cooked to perfection! Our friends ordered the combo fajitas, and they were a huge hit. The presentation was beautiful, with tender, perfectly seasoned steak and juicy chicken piled high alongside colorful grilled peppers and onions. The portion was beyond generous—plenty for sharing—and came with warm tortillas, fresh guacamole, sour cream, and flavorful rice and beans. For the price, the serving size was incredible, offering both quality and value that’s hard to beat! Even the kids’ chicken tenders were a standout—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and served with golden fries that disappeared fast!
But the real stars of the show? The drinks! We tried the Carajillo, and it was an absolute game-changer—smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced with just the right kick of espresso and liqueur. It was the perfect after-dinner treat! And the BBC? Hands down, one of the best tropical cocktails we’ve ever had—creamy, refreshing, and packed with delicious flavors that instantly made us feel like we were on vacation.
Speaking of service, Bailey and Maggie were absolutely fantastic! They were attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed with a smile. They truly went above and beyond to make our experience special. And a huge shoutout to Olivia, the incredible bartender—she absolutely nailed every drink, making sure each one was crafted to perfection. You can tell she takes real pride in what she does!
And the sunset over the lake? Absolutely breathtaking. As the evening went on, the sky transformed into a stunning mix of oranges, pinks, and purples, reflecting beautifully off the water. Sitting outside with a cold drink in hand, enjoying great company and delicious food, while watching the sun slowly dip below the horizon—it was pure magic. It’s the kind of view that makes you want to stay just a little longer and soak in every last moment.
Whether you're out with friends, family, or just looking for a relaxing spot to unwind, Big Daddy’s Cantina delivers in every way. The combination of amazing food, top-notch service, and a picture-perfect setting makes this place an absolute must-visit.
Highly recommend this hidden gem! Can’t wait...
Read moreplease don't even waste your time going to this place. Our family of 3 were excited to have lunch by the water during our stay in Grapevine so we choose this restaurant "cantina". We ordered an appetizer- wasn't the greatest, ordered a $15 margarita in a 6 oz cup, still hoping for a great lunch. We ordered fried shrimp basket ($17) , for my child- no issues. Combo fajitas- for us to split- ($27.50). When the fajitas arrived they were on a plate...not a skillet- 3 pieces of "fajita" chicken, 3 slices of "fajita" beef and 2 bacon wrapped shrimp, tortillas wrapped in tin foil, a plate with beans and rice and dollops of gauc, sc and a small ramekin of salsa. I asked the waiter to take it back as this is not what we were expecting for $27 and we'd like to order something else. the manager approached our table and bullied us, hate even using that term but that's what it was, he told us we ordered it and therefore we had to pay for it. He couldn't believe we would think that the restaurant would eat the cost of something we ordered. I told him, we are not paying for something that we do not want. He then said to us that he'd call the cops because we will need to pay for our meals and couldn't believe that we expect to have the restaurant eat the cost. I told him, again we will not pay for something we are not going to eat, then proceeded to say, it's best we leave then, which was fine by me. But before we could leave, we had to paid for what we ordered- he took the fajitas off - which goes back to my point of him bully us, if you are going to come to our table, ask us what's going on, we tell you then you proceed to tell us pretty much too bad so sad, THEN take the meal off, what was the point? We were willing to order something else. But instead were asked to leave. Make it make sense. I have worked in the restaurant industry and I have never experienced any behavior like that especially coming from a manager. Completely unprofessional, entitled and beyond rude.
Whatever you do, please don't waste your money or your time. There are plenty of other places in Grapevine with "views" to enjoy with a nice meal.

Read moreSo much potential... the location, atmosphere, and service were amazing today... the food, not so much. We had the chips/salsa ($4 for a 1x serving portion), burrito bowl, beef fajitas, and 2x double cheeseburgers for our family late afternoon lunch. Wife had a margarita too. Rest of us had waters. $109 later and the best part of the meal was the kids watching the catfish and turtles in the lake. The fajitas were absolutely awful... meat marinated in something that made it taste rotten. Packaged flour tortillas that tasted full of preservatives, not worth the $18 at all. Burgers were big, but had some mystery "special sauce" that was oddly sweet, overpowering, and made the meat taste bad overall. Burrito bowl was bland for $14, better to get a bowl from Chipotle for $8... chips and salsa for $4 was not worth it whatsoever, especially when any regular restaurant typically throws those out for free and hides the cost in the rest of the food. The fries were really good. The margarita for $15 was served in a ~10 oz (at best) clear plastic flimsy cup (think water cooler cup), but at least it was "strong" according to my wife. The service was prompt and friendly, but again... the food... terrible food. We left hungry, didn't eat everything, and grabbed pizza on the way home. Not food snobs by any means and have eaten marina food all over Texas and multiple other states... never expect the best, but simply what we pay for. $109 with tip for this meal was definitely not worth it. Recommend management consider expanding their very small menu, fine tune your recipes to "simpler/better", and add kid menu options... yeah, NO kid menu items at all. A grilled cheese, kid burger, or hot dog would go a long way. Mac/cheese would be a simple, yet big hit too. Overall, unimpressed. Check out Sysco, they have solutions to this problem... I'd pay $109 for a basic Sysco meal over what we had today. Props to wait staff and loved the atmosphere! Serious potential here if they can get the food right! We'll give them a shot again when their...
