This past January marked the 1st time in over 20 years since the last time I dined in this venue. Lived in Round Lake from May '89-Nov '02 which was when I was in & out of this place, stayed in Lake Bluff for a few months till I moved into a brand new house in Beach Park in April '03. I guess since living on the far NE side of the county, found myself eating at family restaurants much closer to home I suppose but the irony is that I attend a church in Grayslake a couple of Sundays a month for over the last 10 years. Took me this long to finally stop in on the way home one Sunday, sad. The food here has always been good and I love dining in at family breakfast restaurants. Good ol' traditional home cooking at reasonable prices in a local-owned dining space that's kept clean/sanitized, like I said good food bolstered by exceptional service. Told my wife that The Triangle is gonna be a go-to restaurant restaurant from now on when coming home from church or if we happen to be in the area. Always happy to support local!

Went here with my grandfather. He's been coming here for a long time. This was my first. My food although looked very appealing, was awful. I ordered the country fried steak, cream of mushroom soup, and green beans. Everything was very bland. No seasoning on anything. The soup and green beans were very much canned... and tasted as such. The server seemed annoyed that she was working and rushed my party to order. Everything was delivered properly and she came back often to make sure things were OK. The atmosphere was a little off-putting. The first thing I noticed, it was definitely a place for the elder generations. I was the youngest customer in there by several decades and I'm in my 30s. I'll probably skip the next time I'm in town.

It’s a diner with diner food. They have an expansive food service menu. Tons of locals from Saddlebrook hang out there drinking bottomless coffee and the place is very friendly. Breakfast is supposed to be good. I went for lunch. I had a patty melt that came with soup. Soup was ok, though the seniors I was with loved it. The patty melt was a patty melt. It was ok. The seniors talked about the portions being too big and loved being able to leftovers home. TLDR: Food is ok. You get what you order. No surprises either way. Good breakfast place, okay lunch place. Don’t take a date or a spouse. Take your grandmother there. She told me she’d love to get out.

We walked in, and Robin, their waitress, starts to throw a fit. I understand that she is having a bad day. What did she have a fit about? My neice had a Starbuck, and she was not even drinking it. We were here to eat. The owner did not have an issue. Our witness did not have an issue. She who is waiting for other tables seems to have an issue with our table.

As we ignore her , she tries to tell our waitress what she should do and say. We have been here many times, and the rudeness out of nowhere is just not acceptable.

Now, I completely understand that my niece should not have brought a drink in. It was not disturbing anyone, nor was anyone drinking it. It just sat there.

Robin - the waitress took it upon herself to follow company policy and try and demand how dare customer not follow their company policy. We were letting it go, but she still continued to push the matter by going to the owner and continuing to complain and point at our table. That was totally uncalled for. The manager/owner took the waitress side. We simply asked, "Are we buying food here ?" Are we drinking the coffee that was brought in (no one had touched it).

As we try and leave peacefully, Robin still continues to open her mouth and create a scene!. Worse! The owner says I want you to leave, hum we had already made the decision of leaving and the owner kept insisted and touching my sister as if she was a criminal. Completely unnecessary!

Never...

It’s absolutely clear that this place survives on its regular clientele and that’s perfectly okay. There seems to be a mostly older crowd that is very loyal.

Walking in an older women who was sitting at the table closest to the door got up barley said a word and sat us. Not a hello or a warm welcoming word just a head nod into the table she wanted to sit us on.

The server was prompt to greet us and take our order. I will say the past few times we’ve been we had an absolute rock star of a waitress but not this time. Almost as quick as we got our food she dropped off the check. Almost saying like hurry up eat and get out. My wife and I both asked for another water and they only brought one out. Also a little odd but while we where eating a bus boy walked passed us itching his stomach under his shirt-gross.

The food is just okay. It’s your regular run of the mill breakfast joint. Nothing too special. The eggs had almost no flavor and the waffle didn’t have any discernible taste. Thankfully they give enough syrup to drown it in.

Finally the inside is in need of a drastic renovation. It’s like walking straight into the late 80’s and not in a cool way. More like your grandma with the pearls and the giant puff shoulder pads way.

Nothing really stands out as overly positive. It’s clear time has passed by this place. You have to wonder once it’s older clientele is gone what will happen to this...

Ok food, horrific customer service. Several years ago my wife and I were eating breakfast here Sunday morning before church. After finishing our food, we were still enjoying our coffee. The waitress kept repeatedly asking if there was anything else we needed, she asked to the point it became very annoying. And we told her again, and again, no thank you, we are just finishing our coffee. This happened all within roughly 30 minutes or less. Finally she came back and said she was asking us to leave, since there was a huge line of people waiting for a table.

I was horrified, totally beside myself, and didn't know what to do. Not being one to explode and yell at someone, I simply told my wife let's go and never come back here again. Looking back I wish I had spoke up and told the lady no, we are paying customers, or at least had gotten her name to complain to the manager immediately.

To this day we have still never gone back, and we share this bad experience with everyone we talk about restaurants with.

Maybe it was a one off, and I'm being dramatic, but because of this experience I just can't recommend it. The food wasn't anything...
