It's been several years since I have visited and the new decoration and atmosphere feels much more bright, lively and open. The previous atmosphere was very nice as well. It was more quiet, dark and personal. Now it feels more like a coffee shop but in a pleasant way. You don't feel like it's so quiet that you must whisper amongst your appetizers so they don't hear you two tables away... My girlfriend and I visited (her first time) an hour prior to closing time on a Thursday night. The wait staff were all very nice and accommodating. We were only one of three tables in the restaurantso it was very personal and I lived sitting in view of that giart fire place!! The wait staff weren't pushy or assuming at all but were very close if needed and they were so nice. The Tiramisu Martini is outstanding!! If you're thinking about getting one, get it..you will not be disappointed. I had the Manicotti and she had the Tagliatelle w/ Cream Sauce. We both agreed multiple times that It was the best pasta we had ever tasted. I think we were both in awe for one..... It was so so so good. I had been there before and apparently forgot how amazing this food is but It's all made from scratch except for a select few things are imported if I am not mistaken, From the bread to the sauce to the Chocolate Canoli desert.
It was 100% the best food I have ever eaten in a restaurant. It's such a pleasure to have this wonderful place to eat and be comfortable with amazing food and someone you love. Thank you to everyone at Pellegrini who made our night special. You are world class.
P. S. For the two if us our check came in sub $100, I think that's more than fairly priced.... We could have gone down the road to the olive place, paid the same or more for food that's microwaved.... No thanks. This is the only Italian food place...

Well after last night I COMPLETELY remember how it feels...AKA The Happy Place 8-) My wife and I were so bummed when a good Italian place closed in Windsor, and the quest to find the next "The Happy Place" has been awhile in the making. Until last night...we FINALLY FOUND THE ONE! It starts w/ the wonderful old world charm of the dinning area. The second you walk into the beautiful Mediterranean style restaurant you notice the little details to the decor that make it feel autentico! Don't expect the typical bread w/ oil as a starter, because your adventure in flavors is just beginning w/ their soft warm bread (w/ a hint of garlic), which is coupled w/ yes oil, but also vinegar which makes for a great pairing. It was too bad the bread was so delicious because along w/ the homemade soup it left little room for the best part. ORECCHIETTE ORECCHIETTE ORECCHIETTE....absolutely amazing pasta that included Italian sausage for a little old world spice! As good as the pasta was, it is always about the SAUCE. Imagine for a moment, closing your eyes and smelling the warm pasta and spices on your plate, and lifting the utensil into your open mouth with all the wonderful smells and you wrap your lips around your utensil as you slowly drag the food off the utensil and let the warm food rest on your tongue....mmmmmm MAMA MIA right 8-) The SAUCE is so good that you actually forget where you are for a moment and your body relaxes and you put a big smile from ear to ear (like the Grinch) on your face! Now that is how Italian food should taste! Only knock would be that our waitress seemed a little busy as we waited a few times to request things. 5 Stars from...
Read moreThis is a cool idea, but the execution doesn't do it justice. When you show up to the restaurant, you place your order with the cashier before being seated. That leaves you standing awkwardly in the vestibule reading menus while your group decides. If you don't know that's what is expected of you, since that's only common at fast food restaurants and there is no sign to let you know, add another serving of awkward to the experience. You're asked to pay the tip before getting your food. If you're the sort who always leaves a flat % tip no matter the service, you're good to go. However, if anyone in your party prefers to leave a tip comensurate with the service and quality of the food, things get even more awkward. You could go the "no tip" route, since there's no expectation of a tip at Burger King, but that would mess with your karma. I ordered tea, and so got a disposable plastic cup to get my drink from the soda fountain like I was at McDonnalds. When I'm at a restaurant where my food is not served in disposable packaging, I expect my drink to get the same courtesy. With out a heads up or explanation, there's another helping of awkward. My last issue is about the pasta. I've never been to Italy, but I have cooked my share of pasta. I know we Americans tend to eat our pasta overcooked, but al dente means (firm) to the tooth, not (so undercooked that the center is gummy enough to stick) to the tooth. Another 30 seconds in the water would have been perfect. I hope they are successful, but my group's experience was not worth going back. They need to do a better job of presenting a consistent dinning experience and of communicationg expectations...
