We were super hungry after spending a day at Canyonlands and came to this restaurant on the high recommendation of fellow Google reviewer, Michael Olsen PLUS they had an extensive vegetarian menu! I really wanted to LOVE this restaurant but I guess after living in a Mecca of fantastic Mexican restaurants in DFW for 33 years my standards are pretty high. The food was good but no where close to great. They brought us chips and salsa but I couldn’t eat the chips because they tasted so greasy. I had the vegetarian 3 enchiladas which included a cheese, a potato, and a bean. Again they were good, not great. I was expecting Tater Tots for the potato enchilada but it was just mashed potatoes. The cheese enchilada was a white cheese that didn’t have a lot of flavor and the bean was just refried beans. My husband had the spinach enchiladas which got high marks from him and from me. Highly recommend those. Almost every Mexican restaurant you order in serves you beans and rice. Almost every restaurant I order in I usually leave the beans and rice. Not so with this restaurant. I don’t know why but in both our opinions the beans and rice were the best part of the meal! The service was very good and our server very sweet and friendly. The building IMO needs a lot of improvement. From the moment I set foot in the restaurant I noticed it smelled musty. I felt like I was in an old Denny’s. I know this all takes money and perhaps they don’t want to spend a bunch until they know they are going to be successful. Just needs some personalization....
Read moreWe stumbled onto this place, and now, we can't wait to eat here every time we come to Green River. We travel often and always try Mexican restaurants wherever we go. But now, we find ourselves measuring them by El Charro Loco, and none of the others come close. I don't know what they put in their beans, but I could lick the plate. We have never had anything here that wasn't delicious. This time I had the spinach chicken burrito and my husband had the chicken burrito Mex. Both were fantastic. The spinach sauce on mine was perfect. We were so full, but took a piece of the homemade tres' leche cake to go. I couldn't resist a bite though as soon as got back to the hotel. I have heard the term "melts in your mouth", now I have experienced it. Thank you, Gabby! You're not only a great server, but an amazing cook, as well. Please eat here. Your tummy and tastebuds will thank me. Hopefully, El Charro Loco will be around for...
Read moreI'm happy to see this building back in operation. The place smells like a sewer, still. Place always has. The food was edible. Nothing to write home about. Nice music playing, but hard to hear at times with people pushing carts around. I was brought Chios and salsa relatively fast. Chips were decent, salsa had a burnt chilli taste to me. I ordered a #3 combo. Enchilada, beef, was small. The chilli 🌶 was from a frozen source, over cooked and mushy. The taco, beef, was crispy, the beef was greasy. All the food was hot and fresh.... I think? Microwaved?? The rice was tasteless and small portion. The refried beans were runny and, again, small portion. The staff were all friendly, despite the language barrier. I'm a truck driver and I've eaten at many different locations across the USA. This was not a favorite for me. Maybe they were having a bad night? Overall...
