African Sister Restaurant LLC — Restaurant in Greensboro

I hate to leave a critical review here, because I am so happy to have this kind of cuisine in Greensboro. The food was very tasty (I was delighted to see they had a vegetarian/vegan plate), and the people who work here seem really sweet. However, the wait time was disappointing. I called in a pickup order, was told to retrieve it in 30 minutes, and then stood waiting an additional 40 minutes before the single item I had ordered was ready. (Seating in the waiting area is limited to four chairs, so this was not a comfortable wait.) If the preparation of the dishes takes that long, I understand and appreciate the time put into making them, but it would have been good to have been promised a pick-up time that was more accurate. The people who work here really do seem kind and friendly, and they apologized repeatedly for the long wait. I hope they can put systems in place to provide more efficient service so that their business can thrive. Greensboro needs more diversity in its food scene, and African Sister will be a welcome addition if they can work on...

The woman at the front was incredibly sweet but I can't say that I would ever return. I ordered cassava leaf and it was $20! About $6-8 higher than most places. But, I still choose to try it out. When i went to pick up my order, she threw in a free order of rice for me to try. Once I got home and opened my plate, I immediately knew that it was collard greens. I still tried it and it was INDEED collars greens. I called immediately and she just kept insisting that it was cassava leaf and that maybe the place I tried it at previously didn't "make it right". I assured her that I've been eating cassava leaf for years and have been to multiple restaurants in multiple states and know when I'm eating collard greens. This my second time here and babyyyy let me just say this authentic African food was made with Love!!!! I have tried other restaurants in Greensboro but this one has the Absolute BEST African food I have ever had! The food is seasoned to perfection and has just the right amount of spicy kick. I drove home so fast to tear into this because the smell of the food was so amazing it was coming through the bag! And let me just add: the owner here is so sweet, she has such a sweet spirit.
