I saw a video on Facebook and wanted to support a black small business. I attempted to call several times prior to coming to your location due to wanting to come on my hour lunch break. I was unable to get through except one time when someone accidentally answered the phone stating the website and the location would open at 12:30. Still wanting to support the business, I still came. There was a crowd of people outside and they stated that you were going to open at 12:45pm and I had arrived at 12:47pm and still not open. At 12:50pm a young lady came out stating the website was up and the food was ready. We were excited to try the food and I was ordering a large amount for my coworkers and me. I placed my order at 12:52pm and the website stated my food would be ready at 1:15pm. We did not hear anything from anyone until probably 1:25pm. The email stated we would receive text message updates, but I did not nor did any other people outside. I attempted a few times to knock on the door just for an update. We could not call for an update as it went straight to voicemail. I 100% understand the video probably bombarded you all with business so I wanted to give you all grace. With that being said, as a small business owner myself, communication is key and there was none. I also texted this same number, the number on Google, and no response. I was now late for work because of this delay.
For the second issue. I was missing several items from my order. I ordered three wing meal and added two wings. I only received four wings and no roll. I received my pork chop but no gravy. The photo online for pork chops make it seem like it comes with at least three. For the price, I wouldâve thought it would come with AT LEAST two pork chops. I received my ribs with no sides at all and I was due mac and cheese & green beans with a roll. I also was missing my potato salad. The food I did eat was mostly good. The chicken and fish were very well seasoned and crispy. The green beans lacked flavor and the yams were not very sweet all over. The Mac was okay. The ribs were dry and tasted like Kraft bbq sauce. I wanted to leave a positive food review on my business page as I have a pretty large following on social media and I wanted to spread the positive news.
The last issue. I needed to get back to work and was late due to the delay. When I attempted to ask questions about the status I was ignored. When Ms Kim came out I asked for my order to be cancelled and a refund issued due to waiting for an hour with no updates. I was told, âWe donât do refunds. There is a refund policy online. Iâll get your order.â Not only is there no cancellation or refund policy online, I checked, but that was also rude. If it had been only twenty or so minutes with updates, thatâs one thing and I understand. I waited until 1:55pm before receiving food. I spent almost $100 on food that I am now stuck with because my colleagues had to eat other meals due to the extreme delay. Itâs funny how on several other poor reviews, youâve stated you do issue refunds but you told me you donât based off of a false policy.
Again, I understand being a small business and suddenly there was an influx in orders. All we asked was for updates and food to come out in a flowing manner. I read about customer service being top notch online but we did not receive that service. For someone who worked in restaurants for several years, managed restaurants, and have worked in customer service, this is NOT how you treat people who are trying to support you I would at least like a partial refund for this matter and for it to be handled promptly. I attempted to call again but the phone number goes straight to voicemail. If the matter is resolved correctly, I will amend my review. I am not going to answer a phone call after 7pm on a business matter as I have a young infant. I attempted to schedule a time for today to resolve the matter and you would not schedule a timeâŠtalk about...
Read moreI never leave reviews, and I mean NEVER! Iâm gonna start off by saying, the food wasnât nasty. It was actually kinda of good. Despite some seasoning issues, the food was quite enjoyable. Also, our server was amazing. She had just got hired that day, and just started working THAT day! She was trying her hardest and still had a smile on her face when she checked in on us. Now, let me get to the bad part. Be reminded, we got there at about 7:30. We are a party of 5, with 4 adults and a teen. We didnât expect our food to take too long, but we were wrong. We ordered by 7:45 and had drinks and all. At 8:00 we were told that due to âtake out orders before usâ our food would be âa little lateâ. We asked if it would be ready before 8:30 and we were told yes. At 8:30 we were told that our food was being plated. We received most of our food at 8:45. Like mentioned previously, we had a teenager in our party. She is very picky and doesnât eat chicken with bones. Due to that, she ordered chicken âtendersâ off the kids menu. At 8:45, when the food came out, they told her that kids meals were for 10 and under. Also that it was small, and she should get the chicken wing dinner. She said no and at about 9:00 she got her food. I could see from the look of her face, she was very displeased. I assume the server saw too, about 10 minutes later they gave her 4 chicken wings. She didnât want them of course. She gave them to the others in our party. We were done eating at around 9:20-9:30. It wasnât until after we packed our to go boxes. That we received the rest of our food. We received our bill at that time as well. The time was around 9:25, we asked that our bill be separated. It wasnât until about 10:15 when our bill was finally split and paid. Almost an hour??? To split a bill. The whole time the restaurant owner, Kim, constantly came out to apologize. Instead of fixing our problem. She followed us out and invited us to come back tomorrow, Iâm sorry but we will not be doing so. Itâs the food that makes you stay and the service that brings you back. Through all that, no money was taken off of our bill. We didnât ask either, aside from the gratuity. All of us either grew up in church or still go to this day. Seeing that she was a church going woman was very reassuring when entering the restaurant. After that service, it was very disappointing. I hope that she improves and uses this review as advice. You canât do everything by yourself! I pray that God continues to use this woman, even if itâs for...
Read moreI wanted to support a local small but growing restaurant in my city today, so I brought along my Dad, Mom, and my brother met us shortly after we were seated.
Kimâs Kafe is a Christian first, black-woman owned restaurant. I say Christian first because there is definitely a dress code that holds Godly standards. This normally throws new customers off. We live in a society where crop tops, booty shorts, super saggy pants, and no shirt wearing attire is the norm, so people really get upset that donât know what a Godly standard of dressing is. Which is okay, but âyou gonna learn todayâ đ€Łđđ€Ł
AnywayâŠ.. Letâs talk about the service. The service was great even though there werenât any servers. Mrs. Kim was alone today, serving, cooking, and cleaning. She was spread pretty thin, but gave us great service.
She apologized right off the bat and gave us the rundown on the wait, explaining that she was alone. We chose to extend Mrs. Kim grace, patience, respect, kindness, and the love of Jesus. We didnât want to make her day worse by being moody, impatient, unkind, or by acting like âstraight niggasâ đđ€Łđ
Now the foodâŠ. The food was amazing. Everyone loved it. I had fried fish, green beans, and cabbage. My mom had fried fish, mac & cheese, and cabbage. My Dad had baked turkey wings, sweet potatoes, and green beans. My brother had fried chicken as well. Mrs. Kim brought us out a bowl of potato salad (that wasnât on the menu) and also a bowl of coleslaw - both of these items were on the house as a gift to us for our patience and kindness towards her.
She gave my Dad a large cupcake to go because it was Father's Day.
The FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!!! 10/10 omg.
Yes, we had to wait for our food for a while, but we kept ourselves entertained by talking and laughing as a family. It was well worth the wait, and we...
