Cologne Flavored Pizza
We haven't visited this location in about 5 years. We decided to try their pizza again - big mistake. The pizza itself was decent and the crust had a nice texture. However, I could smell cologne on the pizza box and even worse, IN THE PIZZA! I thought perhaps it was just on the box and was from waitstaff or a cashier handling it (they shouldn't be wearing scents though). I gagged as cologne penetrated my taste buds on the very first bite! It lingered in my mouth for a while, and I almost got sick. My family tasted it too. No one in my home wears perfume/cologne/scented products so it wasn't anything in my house.
I decided to call and tell them about what happened, I wasn't asking for a refund or anything, I just wanted them to know and also ask how this happened. If I ran a restaurant I would want to know that people preparing the food I serve are contaminating the food with fragrances.
The girl who answered the phone seemed concerned when I told her what happened and she put me on hold to speak to a manager after I had asked to speak to one. I assume the girl told the manager person what happened because I had to hold for a few minutes but when he came to the phone he just said "HELLO?". He didn’t sound friendly at all, he almost sounded annoyed right away. I told him what happened and he had zero concern. He just said "Bring the pizza in and you can get another one". I said, nicely, “we are grossed out by this, we don't want another one”. (I mean why on earth would I want another one when he didn’t acknowledge there was any issue therefore this problem will still continue)… Anyway, he said I could get a refund if I bring it in. I don't mind bringing it in but it was the large carryout special deal price so it wasn't like I spent a ton of money, it's pretty inconvenient for me to drive out of my way back over there to get this $13 or $14 back. I could tell in his tone and his lack of acknowledging the issue that he probably didn't believe me. I asked him how this could have happened (because I know most dining establishments forbid fragrances to be worn by the staff). He just casually said “oh maybe it was some soap left on the hands”, which I told him it was definitely not!
He didn't apologize or anything. No "I'm so sorry" or "Let me find out what happened and ask my staff" or "I'm going to look into this so it doesn't happen again"... you know, usual responses from a business that has integrity and cares about its customers!
We will not be returning, it's sad too because the pizza otherwise seemed like it would have been good. That cologne pizza will forever be embedded into my memory when I think of Elizabeth's on Groomtown Rd. I gave them one extra star since the order was prepared on time and the pizza itself actually looked great, such a shame! If one of their staff responds to this review just know no one will do anything about it, they had their chance to...
Read moreI just came up there and got a large special.. for mother's Day.. I don't normally eat out and the last time I ate here I swore to myself I wasn't eating there again because the pizza has way too much sauce on it.. but yet here I spend $26 for mother's Day for pizza... Go inside and young Caucasian boy with blonde hair helped me did very well..kudos to him.. HOWEVER... I am super pissed because the two waitresses that were sitting at the bar to the left acted literally like they were customers and were laughing hysterically at people and kept looking at me so I'm sure I was the subject of some of their comedy... I don't know why... The white girl kept saying she needs a Long Island iced tea out loud.. very highly unprofessional.!!!😱when her & the other waitress should have been doing.. is helping other waitresses.!.. that's what I did when I was a waitress... Also the pizza has way too much tomato sauce on it and it's so soggy it falls apart..& sum Under cooked.. I also bought $12 worth of dessert for mother.. I will NOT be going back to this Elizabeth's to be laughed at and overcharged for soggy pizza..!! Wow...smh.,!!... Keep your money don't eat here unless you want soggy pizza & to be talked about/ laughed at..! Also the pizza had way too many onions on it and even though I like onions I don't want to be charged $26 for a pizza with sauce & onions.!. I know that it's easy for them to use fillers and use less meat.!. Hard to find the pepperoni and Ham on this pizza. More cheese sauce and onions than anything..! AND ... If that isn't enough I also ended up with food poisoning from eating there today.. every single piece I ate which was 3 total at 3 different times, I got sick after...
Read moreI was in town working leaving to drive 2hr back home. Went to another place same parking lot but there was going to be a wait. Elizabeth's was in same parking lot normally I would not go to an Italian restaurant it was that or fast food and another stop somewhere else of the interstate. I am super glad I went in. Nice friendly staff clean and inviting atmosphere no heavy smell of garlic. This place is big lots of tables not very busy but I was there at 8pm on a Wednesday.
The pepperoni and ham Stromboli I had was amazing. It was perfectly cooked not burned on the bottom very fresh definitely tasted hand made to order. It comes in 2 sizes I got the small. It covered the plate and I could only eat half of it. It is on there menu and you can add other toppings. The marinara is definitely homemade and the best I have ever had not a thin sauce out of a jar.
My daughter had a Philly cheese stake and she loved it. Again she said very fresh very big. She said the bread had to be homemade with just the right amount of crispyness and softness.
I took my leftover home told my wife to to try it. First thing she said is when are you taking me to this place. She loves Italian food so Elizabeth's we will be coming back wife's orders and I certainly won't mind dinning with you again. Thanks to the owner cooks and wait staff for a...
