I ordered the Two Meat combo platter from doordash. I am 110% amazed with the food. I got the brisket and half of a chicken with a side if BBQ beans. The brisket was tender, juicy, smokey with a great rub that I enjoyed even more when dipping into their KC sauce (don't know what it stands for). Undoubtedly a massive W for Pit Take.
And the chicken? By God the chicken...I SLURPED IT OFF THE BONE. Tender the whole way through, juice dripping down my elbow, and smothered in delicious sauce. If anyone else saw me in my room they'd think I was a bear tearing into it. And once again, even better when dipped in the sauce.
The beans? Tasted great and I could tell they used actual ingredients and not canned stuff, unfortunately they were pretty undercooked. Didn't stop my rampage of gluttony though, still ate, still satisfied.
Corn bread was soft and delicious, the pickles are obviously made in house and were crisp and fresh 🤌.
Pit Take, I hope you can read this as you have just secured a returning customer. Not a single thing (minus the beans, which didn't even bother me) was less than devour worthy.
For everyone else reading this, Pit Take is a gem that must be protected. Do yourselves a favor, go to Pit Take and dig in. However if your in public, maybe don't eat like a caveman as I did.
5/5, absolutely will be returning...
Read moreCame to pick up our order and they didn't put silverware in the bag. Even though I'm picking up, restaurants tend to gladly do that. Since we had wanted to go sit somewhere else and eat, we headed back home instead. Even though our house was right down the road, the food wasn't close to hot. It was good though, I can't lie about that. The ribs were slightly dry, but probably because they weren't hot anymore. The coleslaw was very delicious. The Mac N' Cheese tasted nice and smoky. The plate of food was only half of what we ordered from the family meal, so I feel it was worth the price. One thing that bothered me the most was the woman at the counter. She kept staring at me, no smile or expression on her face which made me feel uncomfortable, especially since she didn't say much when we ordered. That's one reason we didn't stay and eat. That along with the fact we would have been the only one's in the dining room and given how small it is, they would likely hear...
Read moreMan, can BBQ joints be a crapshoot or what? I'm always so scared to try them because it seems like it's never just ok. Either awesome, or terrible and rarely in between.
Pit Take has some solid BBQ, I had the Take 66(?) Pulled pork which was tasty. The pickles were really briny with a strong vinegar taste which I wasn't expecting, but surprisingly good! The first two were great, but I could eat a bunch of them. I had a Mac and cheese side which was excellent. There was either some smoke or BBQ sauce in the cheese which gave it a smokey flavor that I couldn't put my finger on, but was good for sure.
The best part of this place is the owner and staff. Super friendly and welcoming and the owner gives off the best kind of owner vibe: You can tell that he lives or dies by his store and that is awesome to see someone so invested.
Definitely worth a try, I'll be back to try...
