One of my favorite special occasion things to do is to visit the Victorian Lady of Academy Hill tearoom. This tearoom is located in downtown Greensburg within a charming historic 1880's Queen Ann house.

The house serves as an event space hosting afternoon tea events. The teas are themed around fun topics, seasons or holidays. I've been coming here for years with my Mom and her friends and have had the pleasure of attending a few of the Christmas and Mother's Day teas.

During the events you enjoy a full afternoon tea at a beautiful table setting. This means attendees get to enjoy a continuous serving of a few flavors of hot tea, paired with a few courses of food. There's a starter, followed by a tiered tea tray with scones & frosted grapes, classic tiny tea sandwiches, and baked goods. The tiers are consistent, but each event has unique seasonal flavor features.

The most recent tea I attended was a special treat to celebrate this past Mother's Day. The tea options were raspberry peach, raspberry apricot and a Darjeeling, the "champagne of teas." The courses started with a cheesy potato bacon soup. It was flavorful and delivered in just a big enough serving to not feel overly indulgent. The starter was followed by the three-tiered plate, dressed in beautiful flowers. The scone featured a raspberry jam center. The tea sandwiches were really well done with delicious savory fillings. The ham sandwich was highlighted with a champagne mustard, the egg salad was spiced with curry and the chicken salad had added flavor with almonds. The top tier had a few tempting baked treats including a delicious pineapple coconut cookies. The tea ended with a cupcake and a gift of flowers in a vase.

In addition to serving tea in a beautiful parlor area the space, the Victorian Lady is also a gift shop, with goods on display throughout the various rooms of the Victorian house. All kinds of beautiful tea-themed and Victorian-inspired items are available for purchase, like teacups, food items, jewelry, stationery, and home decor items. I highly recommend spending your next special celebration the Victoria Lady tearoom. Just don't take my...

What a QUAINT place to visit! Not only are their High Teas exceptional and DELICIOUS with variety of tasty scones, finger sandwiches, cookies, different flavored teas , and other delicacies, etc. , the atmosphere, along with the music, sets the mood for that Victorian Flair! Their merchandise is high quality and of a most unique nature. I personally, collect Tea Pots, Tea Cups and Saucers. I enjoy going there and finding that extra special something. Capelets, beautifully embroidered Tea Table cloths, the finest and natural Goat Milk Hand Creme and soaps, unique, one of a kind jewelry, a Tea Cart, GORGEOUS Custom designed door wreaths and vases with the most attractive, Designer arrangements to name a few. I just love the Victorian EVERYTHING in this place! The furniture, tables, the Sun Porch! I have to say this, I've been coming here for years at different Seasons. Spring, Summer, Fall , and Winter at Christmas time. Every year, the Seasonal decorations are CAPTIVATING! I so look forward to coming and seeing the CREATIVITY and Gift of design expressed by this woman of VISION, who sets the climate of the atmosphere, the owner, named, Carole. The atmosphere Speaks of peace, joy, and a good feeling of being WELCOME. Carole,, is the gentlest, sweetest personable , human being ever! She LOVES people. It is evident by what she has to offer the community and does at her business is to please and make people HAPPY! She CREATES the ATMOSPHERE. I have to also say this, the people she hires to serve us are also of high caliber personage. I am SO grateful that in Greensburg, we are graced and privileged to obtain such impressionable characters and high standards of excellence to cater to a community such as ours. KUDOS to The...

I am not sure how this place has high ratings. Probably because people are inexperienced with High Tea.

I will say that the place is crowded. But it is clean and decorated tastefully. There is a small gift shop.

For the high tea experience though? The tea was good. I got the Buckingham Palace and it was a typical Earl Grey tea. Nothing too special. The food? Bland. The started salad tasted like pure olive oil poured over greens with some fruit and nuts. A Curry egg salad sandwich. If you don’t like curry, you’ll like this because it hardly had any flavor. The rest of the sandwiches were ham and cheese on oat wheat, chicken salad with grapes and almonds on marble rye, and a typical cucumber sandwich. I was blown away at how bland everything was. I disliked the ham sandwich the most due to the honey oat bread. That’s all I tasted. The scone? That is not a scone. It was basically a pie or large cookie. I have had scones all over the world and not once were they that consistency or looked like that. I did really like their “signature” cookie which was a cherry white chocolate. The people serving were very patient and kind. But if you want a real authentic high tea experience l, you will not get it here. It is cute and fun, but...

Great place. Surprisingly filling. We will definitely be going back. The service was inviting. I am not really a tea person, but they had a bunch of non-boring flavors to choose from and a good amount of food (mainly sweet desert types, but some small sandwiches) at a decent all-inclusive price. This would be a good place to take your wife, mother, or daughter out for a “fancy” lunch. And as a guy, you will still be able to eat good food and enjoy it. You can dress casual or dress up fancy if you want (we saw some people dressing steam-punk for pictures). Reservations are needed, but can be available in two days if they are not busy. (Note: Ring the bell out front when you want to check out.)

I had such a wonderful experience at the Victorian Lady. I took my mother there for tea and we both loved it. The tea room was beautiful and cozy, the tea selection was very good (I loved the Buckingham Palace), and the food was excellent! I can honestly say I have never liked a single scone that I've ever tried but the one I had at the Victorian Lady was so good that I was sad when it was gone. I can't wait to go back!

The Victorian Lady of Academy Hills never ceases to please me. Or the friends I sometimes bring here. All are amazed as they never knew of this. It's afternoon tea, but it's also like a step back in time. The tea is always great, as are the appetizers, main course, and dessert. Highly recomnebded. But one needs a reservation.
