Was welcomed when coming in, asked if they could help me. Bought a couple of smoked turkey sandwiches on wheat, cranberry salad, chips, and some butterbeans. Order was made after placing and came in a very timely manner. Decided to purchase some turkey sausage, linked to try over the weekend. Got to my destination and surprised my mom with the sandwich, split the butterbeans, and cranberry salad. Her health is declining and I hoped this would be a little pick me up for her. We both thoroughly enjoyed it! Mom said the "shaved " smoke turkey was delicious, very tasty, and the smoke was just right. Appears it was truly smoked and not injected with liquid smoke, which can usually be distinguished very easily.

Wish now I would have bought an extra to place in the fridge for her for first of the week, just made without the mayo. Mom went on to say it was her first sandwich from Bates and it was so good.

Make a stop, try the sandwich, wrap, plate and sides, etc. After having what we did, the rest of their offerings just can't be bad! I'll definitely patronize Bates again.

On top of that, the service was great and they treated everyone that came in as I waited, with respect. Try it, you'll like it if you like turkey! Can't wait to try the sausage. Wish I would have got a pack of Turkey Jerky too, so that...

Hubby and I stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon and it was not at all crowded. Ordered and paid at the counter, got our drinks at the fountain (free refills) and chose a table. You give your name with the order so that they can call you to come get it at the counter when ready. Our order did not take long. We both got the turkey dinner and were not disappointed. The dressing had so much flavor and the turkey slices were moist and cut easily with the plastic cutlery. For my taste, I'll ask for the gravy on the side next time, as it was good but a little too much for my liking. Hubby enjoyed the sweet potato souffle, and the butter beans I had were tasty. I added some green peppers to them for a little kick. We both thought the potato salad had too much dill pickle relish in it though. The rolls were good but the cornbread muffins were dry.

Overall, great service and good portions at reasonable prices. I'd seen and passed signs for Bates on my numerous trips up and down I-65 for the past 20-odd years but had never visited. So glad I finally stopped in. Will be going back later this week to get take-out orders for family out of town to try, including the turkey club I keep reading so many good...

My husband was excited to try Bates House of Turkey because one of the things he loves is turkey and dressing. We made the 1 1/2 hour drive up to Greenville so he could have that. We ordered the turkey dinner plate, with dressing, and between us our sides were pineapple casserole, field peas, and sweet potatoes. The sides were pretty decent, but the main thing, the turkey and dressing left a lot to be desired. The turkey was like a thick sliced lunch meat and the dressing.....the dressing was like two scoops of flavorless cornmeal mush with what tasted like some canned gravy poured over the whole thing. We could not determine any celery, onion, sage or any flavoring at all in the dressing except maybe some turkey broth. The price was excellent for the amount of food but in all honesty, I would have rather paid more for better quality on the turkey and dressing. (I need to send them my recipe for the dressing because folks would come in to the restaurant just to get my dressing. haha.) I have talked to several people that have been there in the past and said that it used to be excellent not sure what happened. I would recommend maybe sticking with a turkey...

Meh. The food wasn't warm, much less hot. The food was tasty, but I don't want cold food. One order was a turkey plate and it wasn't even warm, not even the gravy. I had a smoked turkey sandwich, and it wasn't hot either. I'm not sure if it should've been. But it was very small, more like a slider, I should've ordered two. The sandwich was a tasty little fella. My other issue is common at a lot of places. We ordered and paid at the counter, got our own drinks, and picked up our food when our name was called, and yet the app defaults to adding a tip. The service isn't any different than a fast food place, and we don't tip there either. Yeah, I gave a tip, but should've tipped myself, I did everything. Bates did quickly respond to the other diners' review to gather more details.

We were on our way up I-65 today and stopped at Bates House of Turkey in Greenville, Alabama. It’s just off of the highway, and it’s a great place to stop for lunch or dinner, or to get something to take with you. Their turkey sandwich is super — smoked turkey, crisp chilled lettuce, a touch of mayo and bread-and-butter pickles on a sesame seed bun — delicious. They’ve also got turkey and dressing with all of the trimmings, as well as other entrees and sides. The folks there are as nice as they come, the service is quick and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. Family friendly, with clean restrooms to boot. Highly recommended.

I have heard about this restaurant for many years but have never been able to stop. While traveling south to the beach, we took the opportunity and had a great meal. The turkey plate was like a mini thanksgiving meal and was delicious. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was due to several tables that had not been cleared and cleaned. We had a late lunch so the restaurant was not busy but maybe they were short handed so not a big deal to me and my partner since we found a table that was ready for us. I will come back again and look forward to it!
