My wife and I visited Kahuna's in March 2021 and ordered a couple of cheeseburgers and two orders of fries. We waited for our food for about 45 minutes and then noticed the family of seven who came in 10 minutes after us got their food before we did. I went up to the counter and asked why that happened and the lady said, "It depends on what you ordered". I couldn't believe my ears as I told her about how the big family got their food before us. She then went over to talk to the lady running the grill. This lady turned around with a scowl on her face and then went back to flipping burgers. About 5 minutes later, our order came out. For a place that says they don't pull their burgers from a warmer, these burgers were not hot. They were lukewarm at best. The fries were nice and hot though. We did enjoy the ice cream we ordered afterwards, but were not a fan of how people sat their drinks above the part of the booth where my wife was sitting. She was pregnant at the time, and having a drink spilled on her would not have been a welcome event. There were plenty of tables for people to sit at, so I'm not sure what the deal was with all the people standing around waiting.

Now, the reason I am writing my review is from our experience today (2/21/22)

We were taking a drive around and thought we would stop at Kahuna's. It had been a year since we visited, so we thought we would get some ice cream on our way home. We decided to do the drive thru, and to our disappointment, we waited for an extraordinarily long amount of time behind a car that was sitting by the window and no food was ever handed out to them. We could not wait any longer, so I decided to back out of the drive thru. Needless to say, we...

I had the unfortunate experience of dining at Kahuna's recently, and I must say it was a truly disappointing visit. I used to be a loyal customer, but my loyalty has been shattered due to their inexplicable decision to remove my all-time favorite item from the menu – the Horseshoe burger.

For years, I reveled in the delightful combination of flavors that the Horseshoe offered. The succulent burger patty, the perfectly crispy fries, and the rich, gooey cheese sauce all came together in a harmonious symphony of taste. It was the dish that kept me coming back, and I recommended it to all my friends and family. But when I walked into Kahuna's this time, I was met with the news that they had removed the Horseshoe from their menu. I was absolutely gutted.

Not only was the decision to discontinue this beloved item a terrible one, but it was done without any warning or explanation. The absence of the Horseshoe left a void on the menu that no other burger could possibly fill. I inquired with the staff, hoping for a glimmer of hope that it might return, but they simply shrugged and said it was a management decision. It's unfathomable how a restaurant can take such a tone-deaf approach to customer satisfaction.

The rest of the menu items I tried that day were mediocre at best, and the service was slow and indifferent. It's evident that Kahuna's has lost touch with what made them great in the first place. I cannot understand the rationale behind removing a signature dish that had a dedicated following. This decision has cost them a loyal customer, and I have no intention of returning. Farewell, Kahuna's – you've lost not only my favorite dish but my...

I went in the place with my family today. We walked up to the counter to preset. I Ordered a hamburger no cheese pickle onion mustard as I alway order my hamburgers. My wife ordered chick nachos and my daughter ordered the same and my son and daughter ordered the fish tacos. It did take a bit of wait but they were a little busy and we in no hurry so no big deal. When our food finally arrived I took a bite of my semi warm hammer and noticed right away it had a piece of cold unmelted cheese on it. I went up and payed it on the counter and I said im sorry but I ordered a hamburger not a cheeseburger. Just as a side note the girl read the order back and said hamburger pickle onion mustard correct and I said correct. So I went back to my table only to have what I can only guess was the cook or some sort of manager and said quit rudely you ordered a cheeseburger it’s right here on the ticket. I politely said sorry but I never order cheese ever because I can’t eat cheese. She just stood there with a scowl on her face and I finally said well whatever I don’t know what to say. She took the cheeseburger and never came back with the burger that I ordered but no refund on the other one!! I am not saying this because I had a bad experience but truly the only thing that was satisfactory was the fried fish taco everything else was cold and I wouldn’t say gross but I will be nice and say like warm and not very tasty. If your thing is to go in and be bullied and called a liar and eat not so good food ..The Big Kahuna burger joint in Greenville Illinois is your...

First I'll start by saying: I drive fifty minutes one-way from out of town to specifically eat here. Today, I made the pilgrimage as I have many other times before to grab one of my favorite burgers (Wipe Out!) and waffle fries from Kahunas. My best friend and I arrived upon opening at 10:30 a.m. I ordered my faves and sat down inside while I awaited my meal. My food arrived quickly. However, I was shocked when I saw the portion size. I counted 7 waffle fries. Waffle fries are $3.50 which means I spent .50 a fry! I thought this was a possible one off until my best friend counted his 9 waffle fries. Meanwhile, the guy sitting behind us ordered the traditional crinkle cut with his meal and his fries were heaped on his plate (to the point of almost falling off.) I felt cheated because I spent more money and received less. Waffle fries are considerably more expensive than crinkle cut. Although their burgers are amazing, it's hard to rectify driving an hour and forty minutes for one and 7 waffle fries. I understand everyone is struggling with the economy but that's why I chose to support local rather than closer chain restaurants. I want places like Kahunas to stay in business. It's disappointing to see my money doesn't really go that far here anymore. It seems they would rather cut portion size than change costs to reflect the current times. It's a poor end to an otherwise great relationship.

I live almost four hours from this place, and fate sent me to the little town of Greenville, IL, for one night. I didn't expect much. But this town feels like Mayberry if only Aunt Bea cooked Hawaiian themed burgers. I wish I'd have taken pictures before we started eating, but we were so hungry it didn't happen and then it was so good we couldn't stop. Plus, what kind of small-town independent burger joint has an outdoor seating area with a regular concert during the summer? Awesome touch. And finally, I really wish I'd have caught the guy's name who took our order at the counter (I probably will when we go back for dessert shortly). This guy was the guy. You know what I mean. The guy with the personality who knows the menu forward, backwards, inside and out. I hope like hell he's related to the owner because anyone else who swooped the guy up would gain a phenomenal customer service asset. TL;DR I love it when people live a career they were destined to live. And whoever owns Kahuna's Burgers is just that. I'd rate this place 11 out of 10 if I could. EDIT: Kyle. The guy's name was Kyle. Give Kyle a raise. You don't know what kind of asset you have in that one. 👍
