I live in the neighborhood and so my kids and I decided to finally give this spot a try. We all love Mexican food. The place was not as busy as I have seen it in the past. Staff seemed adequate. Service was just ok. Not bad by any means but it was mediocre at best. If you order drinks know in advance that they do not come with refills. The chips did not taste fresh. I asked for an extra salsa and it never came. There are selections on the menu for kids items. Bean and cheese burritos were not one of the options so I asked if they could make one and they said yes. Maybe I should have clarified or maybe I am just expecting too much but they charged me for two regular menu priced burritos and an additional charge for the rice and beans! The kids could have gotten an enchilada or a quesadilla plate that comes with rice and beans for only $4.95 The kids both ordered sodas that came in a can. I ordered an iced tea and when asked if they had any sweetener was told no? The food was not that great tasting in my opinion. There are many other Mexican places in the area that I personally much prefer. Communication between myself and the server was difficult. Unfortunately I don't speak any Spanish. I think that would have helped make the experience much more enjoyable. If the food would have tasted excellent I would most likely give them a second chance. Unfortunately that just isn't the case. I will not...
Read moreHubby and I ate here not long after it first opened. We were so excited to have a place right around the corner to get tequila shots and Mexican food and not have to drive! Well we got the stink eye as soon as we entered, service was terrible. The hispanic customers got the rounds numerous times but it took us forever to get anything. The chips we got were super stale, my chile relleno came out cold, and the waitress lied about the price of the tequila shots. They acted like they couldn't speak enough English for us to discuss it after the fact, but had been just fine when we were ordering. Needless to say we never went back, and enjoy our Mexican food from la carreta. They treat us like...
Read moreI recently visited El Malecón Seafood Restaurant, and unfortunately, my experience was not as great as I had hoped, especially when it came to the seafood. I ordered a campechana, expecting the traditional mixed seafood cocktail. However, what I received was essentially a ceviche with octopus and shrimp, which wasn’t what I anticipated. The dish lacked the variety and depth I usually associate with a proper campechana. While the food wasn’t terrible, it didn’t match my expectations, and I would have appreciated a more accurate description of the dish...
