Cruizin' Cones — Restaurant in Gretna

Decided to try some local ice cream versus the general chains, and came across Cruisin' Cones on Google. Ratings were great, photos were lovely and the desserts looked delicious! Should note most of the reviews are from over a year ago.

Unfortunately, when we arrived, the establishment was not at all like the photos (no big deal, generally), but the ice cream did not live up to the expectation, either.

We ordered a handful of flavors and combinations, with various toppings. Toppings were fine. The base vanilla ice cream was fine. The flavors, however, appear to be added via a syrup from a machine that doesn't incorporate into the dessert - sits on top or on the edges of the swirl. Including the chocolate ice cream.

One of them was so chemically tasting, we had to toss it. Perhaps the gentleman behind the counter wasn't familiar with how to work it. Pretty disappointed because it looked like a...

What a great little hidden gem! My wife and I stopped by in a whim last night on our way to Dairy Queen. I’m so glad we did!! So much closer, tasted delicious and best of all, you feel as if you are taking care of your own vs a big national chain. Pricing was pretty similar to what you would expect but the experience was far better! Bring the kids along! They have outdoor games setup for them to play, or the ability to go on the roof and check out the surroundings from up high! Meanwhile, the adults can mingle on the (plenty of) nice tables with umbrellas.

My first experience and I know my wife was equally pleased. We will be back soon...

Nice new ice cream truck in Gretna. All ice cream is soft serve and have lots of flavors. The prices are not too expensive. The soft serve is real ice cream not ice milk like other flavors. There are a lot of other options, including malts and shakes. The flavors were not what I was expecting. The flavors are a swirl or addition to a base vanilla. I had chocolate, flavor was not my liking but the base vanilla was good. Our cones had some residual mint flavor at the bottom of the cone. Overall it was good a good change from other places. Will visit again...
