25AUG22 1800 Hours Not family friendly! Not handicapped accessible friendly! Food was on the subpar level. Service was mediocre. My wife drives a van for the handicapped with a side access for a wheel chair ramp. Gattuso's does not have handicapped parking to accommodate her van. When I asked the hostess where she could park she asked her manager. The manager said to park in the German American Club parking lot as they had the only handicapped parking, but the G.A. Club has a sign saying to NOT park there. Eventually, she had to park in the middle of the Gattuso's parking lot, she exited the van, and I parked her van. When we left we did the reverse loading. A man seated behind our table was obnoxiously drunk, yelling at the top of his lungs, every third word was an obscenity, & every other vulgar word was an F-bomb. Everyone in the the restaurant could hear this. We could not hear each other talk over his profanity laced tirade and did not enjoy our hour together. Our Thursday burgers, which are now $7.99, were subpar. My wife's hamburger bun was stale and cold. My hamburger bun was soggy. The French fires were thin & tasteless, like they had just come out of a bag of Costco frozen French fries. Our waitress was mediocre, she was pleasant when she came by but we were always having to have another waitress track her down to come to our table. Everything was exceptionally slow, food, go boxes, check, etc., in getting to our table. We will not go back, at least not for awhile...
Prior Experience a Year Earlier ~ 3 Stars
Our meals & service were not our normal five star experience. Our Crabmeat, Spinach, & Artichoke appetizer was very dry & had a strong fishy smell & taste. We did not finish it. My wife ordered the Thursday burger special (Which is now $6.99), dressed, but without onions. It arrived with only the bun & meat. Our waitress spoke in course language.

My son, grandson, and I went to Gattuso's early Friday afternoon, 02OCT20 and had a five star experience! I normally remember the people/employees much longer than I remember what I ate, bought, or paid. That was the case Friday. Our waitress, 'Calise E' was nothing short of outstanding. She was very personable, intelligent, and articulate. She asked all the right questions about my grandson: Booster seat? Child's Menu? Brought him crayons with a genuine smile on her face, positive energy in her voice, and a friendly sparkle in her eyes. If I owned Gattuso's she is the standard of employee that I would want representing my business. Her attentiveness/timing was perfect, she came by at all the right times, not too much and not too little. Our dinner included both entrees & appetizers. Every item was good. The young ladies outside let my Grandson use the chalk sticks and 'draw' on the back of the 'Specials' board. Thank-you!

Gattuso's failed to honor their advertised prices; they added 'Gratuity' for an on-line order that I picked up myself, without a waitress or anyone involved; the seafood was soggy & tasted like it was store bought frozen seafood.
On 04MAR20 I ordered three meals, the seafood platter was one of them. They overcharged me by $4 for the seafood platter based on their online menu. The cashier refused to honor their advertised price.
Without any notice, they added 20% to the bill as 'Gratuity' which is a sham/fraud. I ordered from home and drive there to pick up my order. No person was involved in my purchase and pickup other than the cashier. The 'gratuity' was just a surcharge to paid their payroll.
My entire order was soggy like a wet dishrag. The taste & texture was like frozen seafood purchased from a Costco freezer.
Gattuso's quality of policy, personnel, & food has gone down badly.

After checking my bank account, it turns out our waitress Candace, took it upon herself to add a tip to my credit card without my authorization. I have contacted my bank and reported a fraud charge to get my money back. Awful business.
Original Review:
I used to really enjoy Gattuso's. But apparently the service and quality of food has gone down hill. We went there and I had the roast beef poboy, and my friend had the spaghetti and meatballs. The poboy bread was hard as a rock to the point it actually hurt my gums and made a huge mess because it was so hard. It must have been "end of the night" bread. Poboy bread should have a little crunch but not be hard enough to have the ability to kill a Chihuahua or baby. There was barely any meat on the sandwich as well. My friend tried his spaghetti and said it tasted like the sauce was right out of a can, which it probably was. I tasted it myself and sure enough, metallic can taste. About 15 minutes in, our waitress just came by and gave us our check. Didn't ask if we needed anything else, just dropped it off without saying anything and walked off. We also sat there a few times with empty drinks which were only refilled one time. Once we finished we gave the waitress our card. We were sat in the front and had a clear view of the back area where the registers are and the servers hang out. We watched our waitress swipe our card, and then stand in the back for at LEAST 10 minutes talking and laughing with the other servers while we waited. We most likely will not be returning, which I'm sure is perfectly fine with the staff since they didn't seem very interested in helping. It should also be mentioned there were about 20 other people in the restaurant total between the inside area and outside during our visit, so the bad service and food quality wasn't because they were packed and busy. I mentioned our experience to a few friends once we left and a few of them said they've had similar experiences lately and had stopped going to Gattuso's. I guess we'll be joining the club as well. Yelp asked me if this place is good for dessert. I'm not really sure since we weren't asked if we wanted anything before the check was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHello and good morning Gattuso's, First time dining in your restaurant yesterday evening. The atmosphere is inviting and seems very relax much different than the rest of Gretna. I wanted to sit outside and take in the local vibe, but I went straight to the bar. When I sat down at the bar it took roughly 5 minutes for me to be approached by any service staff. I believe 4 young ladies were behind the bar at any given point in that 5 minutes, including the young lady that seem to be entertaining the young men across from me. I wasn't certain if she worked at Guttuso's, due to her use of a vaping device until I saw her go into the kitchen while vaping. My guest explained to me maybe she has a medical concern and it was an albuterol inhaler, then I said why has she used it so many times and so covertly. I don't believe she is having an asthma attack , jokingly I said should we call an ambulance. As a medical professional I can without a doubt say that was not a inhaler and nor was she having an asthma attack. Now on to the food I have had many versions of the crawfish queso through-out the city , your version unique in that it only had 3 crawfish tails in the dish. After a couple of beers I knew it would be best to move on , because it couldn't and wouldn't get any better. My suggestion would be retrain or even hire professional waitstaff, the cuteness is only skin deep they still need to do their job to a higher level. Let me say the young man cleaning up the tables yesterday evening around the bar area was the stellar in his job performance. I just found it appalling for a Gattuso's employee to be vaping in the same common area while your patrons are dining. I must of saw 3 young children in this area at the time. Unless this action of vaping is allowed by management. Then it brings to question what is going on in the kitchen or for that matter anywhere else in the building. Hopefully these concerns can and will be addressed for the sake of all your future customers. I'm sorry Gattuso's , I gave it...
