We really like this place it's close to our house and normally we struggle with going to the casino in Mississippi to get our crab leg fix we simply love Dungeness crabs prepared with Louisiana style crab boil and not every place does it that way and if you like them also you probably have the same situation as us where the per pound price kills you Salvos price for all you can eat is reasonable especially due to the fact that you don't have to drive all the way to Mississippi. The seafood came out all very hot/tasty with that Louisiana flavor we love everything was cooked well nothing over done which if you eat crab legs a lot you know what I mean nothing was getting stuck in the shell the place has a feel when you walk through the door as if you are in Castnet in New Orleans as that's where I come from is the East Bank it kind of put me in that feel however you get a number and then get seated. You could order from the menu or get all you can eat boiled seafood or fried fish seafood you have to choose which one I really wanted to ask but didn't get around to it before we left but they may have a price where you can do both. I'm not sure but it's a little bit cheaper to do with the fried seafood. It isn't your traditional buffet-style place where there is a bar you walk up get what you want and go to your table you basically you stay at you're table and the server brings you out your platter they do a standard Loadout for you which includes boiled shrimp, Jonah's crab claws ,Dungeness crabs, corn, potato smoked sausage, mushrooms, onion and a nice half of garlic which I love. Now you might be thinking that this is some type of a scam like Red Lobster does when they say all you could eat and you have to tell the waitress or you want more shrimp and she takes 30 minutes to put them in and finally brings them when you're already too full to eat them know the server while dealing with six or seven tables at one time notices where you are in passes by without saying anything to you drop you off another load of crap if that's what you're low on and keeps it moving we didn't have to really ask for anything she was on the spot. Didn't look at the menu too much because I know what I was there for but I do know that they have sandwiches ready to eat also just in case you're into that and that might be a deciding factor. I...
Read moreJust visiting here. Came here at the recommendation of a friend who is local to NOLA. We ordered the seafood gumbo (it was good), the fried boudin balls (amazing!), crawfish egg rolls (not our favorite), fried shrimp (perfectly cooked), seafood baked potato (it was okay; it had big pieces of shellfish shell), and I ordered the AYCE snow crab legs.
Now, let me get more into the snow crab legs. The crab legs itself was great! However, the butter it came with was rancid! There was no way around it as the batch comes from a huge container. As a result, I couldn’t really enjoy the legs without the drawn butter. I couldn’t even finish the first 2 clusters that were brought out. Because I couldn’t eat anymore without the butter, I asked if I could be charged the menu price of the 2 clusters (whatever the entree price for 2 clusters were). However, when the waitress asked the manager, they refused to make any adjustments. It’s all cool! It’s not like I was trying to get anything for free, but I feel like they should’ve at least made some kind of exception on the pricing considering that the butter was rancid and I couldn’t eat anymore of the 2 clusters that were brought out, which was $39.99 for AYCE crab legs.
I would probably give them another chance, but I’m only here for another week and there are so many other places to try. The waitress was very nice and very apologetic about the situation but there was no redemption with the crab legs and...
Read moreThe food: Incredible. The service: unparalleled. The people: A damn good time! I arrived just after the power went out, and thought I would have to climb back in my Lyft, tragically bereft of crawfish. The kindness of the owner, the professionalism of the staff, and good nature of the awesome regulars saved my night. The owner invited me to sit with him and his crew of delightful regulars and made sure I got the crawfish boil I had been dreaming of. The 2lb ragin' Cajun is EVERYTHING! The perfect size for one person. Seriously, the best crawfish, sausage, potatoes and corn you could eat. The kindest, most generous staff you could ask for, they made sure everyone was well fed, had great suggestions if you wernet sure what to order, and made sure everyone had a good time and full belly at the end of the night, despite the power SNAFU during the dinner rush. It felt like eating with family at a backyard cookout. TRY THE FRIED BREAD PUDDING EGGROLL! The outside is crispy crunchy goodness covered in powdered sugar, the inside is a warm hug of perfectly spiced bread pudding. I don't know what's in the dipping sauce, but they could serve it on tap and I would drink it by the mug full. If you want a real Louisiana experience, an authentic crawfish boil, and an all around good time, Salvo's is the place to go. You won't find better food or...
