Gold Star Pizza — Restaurant in Groton

Ummm what!!!! How have I not tried this place before! My husband is a mechanic who works up the road from this place and when deciding on takeout for dinner he told me that him and the co-workers order from there often. I wanted to try the calzone because I love them but most places don't make them very well and we had grinders and a side of fries for the kids. FIRST, do not be alarmed by prices, they are not ripping you off, the side of fries for $5 was huge!! But the large calzone came in a large pizza box and we had leftovers for 2 days lol but beyond that, they do not skimp on the add on's or the cheese. They also give you two huge containers of sauce for dipping. I have not had a calzone this amazing in probably a decade. It's always the mom and pop places that have the best food!! I don't like that they charge for add-ons with your grinders but they were amazing also. I'm looking forward to trying more from them...

I cannot believe the customer service as of lately. We always place orders for the office... today, they made a grinder wrong and we called about it, the old lady said "ok we will make another one" and we hung up. My coworker threw her sandwich in the garbage and I was getting ready to leave my office to go get the correct sandwich when I received a call back from Gold Star Pizza. I answered the phone and the older lady ( I believe is the owner); asked me to bring the sandwich back as proof that it was made wrong??? Now we have placed MANY orders (&100's of dollars worth) and never complained once about the food, even if it was mediocre. But this instance, it was the completely wrong sandwich... I am in disbelief that they would treat a customer this way, much less a loyal customer. Don't get me started on the lady taking the order.... she was completely...

First time eating here. Ordered 2 Large meatball grinders. One with extra sauce. Got home and they were the Worst grinders we ever had. Couldn’t even finish eating them!!! It was all soggy because they cut it in half and put it in styrofoam, instead of wrapping it in parchment paper. They only put a small piece of parchment in the bottom of the styrofoam. The grinder was so soggy, it fell apart when I picked it up to eat it, and the cheese stuck to the paper. They also put the extra sauce on the wrong grinder!! We requested that the grinders be toasted, and they burned the breads!! The grinders were very small. If they call those a LARGE grinder, I wonder what a small grinder looks like!!???? Needless to say, they just lost our business!! $40.00 down the drain!!! Gold Star...
