CubeSmart Self Storage — Local services in Groton

I rented a 10 x 30 unit at CubeSmart in Groton, Ct. from April 3, 2023 to October 3, 2023. I needed the largest unit for all of my household belongings, it was not climate controlled and it was the only unit in my area that I could find at the time of my move. I did not completely fill the unit. After I was in for about 3 months my rent went up from $319.00 a month to $389.00 a month a $70 increase which is disgusting. What’s even more disgusting is that upon moving out of unit 612 movers pointed out to me that there was black mold on the bottoms of my wood furniture and my couch which was up off the ground was also covered in mold. I had been paying $13.00 a month for $2000.00 worth of Insurance coverage through CubeSmart along with my rental fee and was just denied any compensation for my belongings. The only good thing about CubeSmart in Groton Ct was Elizabeth the property manager she was always kind and courteous. PLEASE DO NOT RENT A UNIT AT CUBESMART IN GROTON CT!!! Mold Mold Mold!! After my things were out of the unit you could see the mold growing all around the plastic covered ceiling. My $2200 sectional is ruined. I will also be making a post about this on my Facebook page and will tell every single person that I know. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT RENT FROM CUBESMART IN GROTON CONNECTICUT. If I could upload pictures to this review I would, shame on CubeSmart, I will also be calling the Better Business bureau. UPDATE CubeSmart has refused to compensate for damages to my belongings if you have to rent from them it states that they are “not responsible” per the district manager Chris Cruise. He states “It is STORE AT YOUR OWN RISK”...

Price gouging! I’m literally paying the price! Since I began using this I’m 2019, it has already changed hands to another company (now being Cube Smart). The customer service at the desk has always been cordial. The pricing, however, has been atrociously outrageous. In 2019, my 10 x 15 unit was priced at $150 per month. Through a number of price hikes over the years, that same unit now cost $260 per month. I find this kind of price gouging to be outlandish, unnecessary, and unfair. Yes, if I were to contact the company, they would give me a number of corporate excuses regarding such price hikes. At the heart of it all, a storage unit is a storage unit. it does not cost more in materials. It does not cost more to do the job. It does not require more manpower. It’s just a steel locker that doesn’t change. As an active duty military member whose family has no choice but to use storage, we are handcuffed to whatever price hikes will occur. It would seem that Cube Smart is taking advantage of scenarios like mine, knowing that there are certain customers who must use the space and will be forced to pay whatever amount they will come up with. And to boot, all the storage companies in the area collude to maintain similar pricing. Do it wouldn’t do any good to ensure the inconvenience of moving all my things to another storage facility. I am stuck with the situation I have with this storage company. But I can certainly warn my brothers in arms about what is happening here. Highly recommend!!!! Definitely will use it again!!!! It is my second time use extra space storage. Very clean, secure, and reasonable price storage facility . Kelsey and Ralph who work there both are really friendly and helpful. Rental lease is month-to-month and if you know you gonna need for curtain days but less than a month, storage can help you design your rental lease But ONLY ONCE!!!! For example, I rent storage month by month from Dec 1st. After few month, I come back from vacation and find new apartment. The new apartment is ready to move-in on April 15th. I called office let them know that I'm moving out on April 15th. Instead of paying a whole month for April, they helped me rent for 15 days on April. So I saved half month rent which is very smart way to manage, also it is very convenience for customers. BUT they can Only help you doing this ONCE!! Unfortunately, my apartment manager called me few days ahead told me that the apartment can not ready on time, but it will be 100% ready by a following week. So I called Extra Space Storage told them this situation and I want to rent a another week after I used my ONLY ONCE chance for that 15 days. They told me I can not use twice, coz I already used once. BUT They didn't kicked me out immediately. Kelsey and Ralph tried their best to help me out. They gave me an extra week to move out without any charges. But I have to out by end of week, which I did!!! I'm very appreciate!!!!
