This place was such a major disappointment. As a vegetarian, it's often difficult to find meals that are good and available at restaurants. My roommate is a vegan and she has more luck finding stuff. Vegetarians, not so much. So imagine my delight when I saw this old fashioned diner, which also claimed it was a "vegetarian Enclave" [ see the picture of their sign below] boasting of a separate vegetarian menu. I was so excited. So we drove almost an hour. They don't have a vegetarian menu AT ALL, separate or included. They do have a couple vegan options- which is great, but I didn't want vegan I wanted vegetarian. Not one vegetarian meal, unless of course you count the grilled cheese. I spoke with the wait staff ,and they were nonchalant and unconcerned. No suggestions or chat with the cook to see if he could whip something up, seeing how it was supposed to be a vegetarian restaurant ,you'd think they could do something . So frustrating, so we left.

I really enjoy the salads, wraps, and pasta. The beef ragu and fra diavlo are very good! Highly recommend!!! Soup is also very good (the chowder) The stir fry is VERY salty. But I decided to order the meatloaf and I hate to say it was absolutely terrible. Disappointing since I come here often. The texture was just off. More like a patte that was packed tightly. I feel meatloaf should somewhat fall apart and be more “burger” consistency. I would not recommend ordering it. Did not taste good at all. Waste of $20 unfortunately. I also went to pay and my change was $5 and the waitress asked me if I wanted the change. Super unprofessional in my opinion. I would never ask someone if they wanted their change (nevermind $5) when it was take out. Let me decide if and what I’d like to tip. I will stick to the salads/wraps/pasta! I give those 4/5 stars ⭐️ for sure!

Where do I begin...bottom line....completely and insanely priced. Place is run down. They don't want to give you a bill...they want you to just stick your card in the reader and pay at the table. Well, of course they don't because they don't want you to see how much they are ripping you on the price. Food is not even mediocre. Sausage was so hard you couldn't even cut it egg whites uncooked. $53 with tip for 2 for breakfast. 2 eggs cost you what 18 do at the store and they are not organic. This is not a diner. Take diner off your sign. What a joke. $8 for a glass of orange juice. We will never be back and certainly spread the word on social media. See for yourself on my photos. I included a snap of the Brownstone menu down the road for a little comparison, too. I am completely disgusted with the whole experience. Shame on you!!

On advice from a Guilford local we stopped for a quick lunch before heading home at Shoreline Diner. It is very clean and comfortable. We were greeted and seated at a booth by a window. Our server was right there to offer drinks and give us the extensive menu. We each ordered the pita gyro with beef and lamb which was quite good. We decided to have a dessert and were a little disappointed in the dessert versus the description. I had a warm apple which was a round shortbread cookie with warm sliced apples and a little caramel sauce on it luckily I supplemented it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Janet had pecan pie with chocolate ice cream and it wasn’t really a slice of pie but more line a shortbread cookie with pecans and sauce. Although they were good we were disappointed in them.

Wonderfully varied menu with lots of vegan options, and always fresh, quality food- not your typical diner. The waitstaff is exceptionally knowledgable about special diets and dietary restrictions and the menu is meticulously labelled for allergens (dairy, soy, gluten, nuts). At our most recent visit, William was an especially kind and friendly waiter to us and to all the guests, taking the time to actually chat and check-in. Curbside pickup is also well-managed. My favorites are the vegan breakfast burrito, the vegan tempeh reuben, and the hand-cut french fries. It's not cheap- but every cheap diner I've been to has served me canned/frozen/not fresh food, and had at most one vegan option. I'd much rather pay to dine here!

Not sure I could give a restaurant experience higher praise! I've been wanting to check this place out for years and finally did. It blew away my already high expectations. The food was spectacular...I'm gluten free and so many amazing choices. I had the butternut hash, grits, omelette and dessert. The banana cream pie is out of this world...the jam for the toast is amazing. So much of what they make is from scratch. Even the butter is whipped in house. The service was the best I've ever had. Felt like I made new friends! And the playlist was created by staff and so much fun. Can not wait to go back....it's worth the drive! It's like taking a mini vacation when you go there...everyone is SO nice! HIGHLY recommend!!
