If you are ever in the general vicinity of Kiva Dunes, stay away from the convenient local places. We mad e a reservation at around 3:30 in the afternoon for 8:30, so, plenty of time to communicate anything. We arrive and are seated at 8:20 where we place our orders. 3 NY strips, 3 Ribeyes, and one shrimp kebab. The waiter takes the order, and then 5-6 minutes later she comes out and says they have 2 NY strips, my friend decides to switch the ribeye, a more expensive cut, she then puts the order in and in 5-6 more minutes Informs us that she has ONE ribeye. I think for a party of 7 you’d want to let the know prior to them coming how much steak you have at a steakhouse, but it doesn’t end there. The friend that switched to the ribeye, had to switch AGAIN to the filet mignon, a 46 dollar cut of meat, but finally, they actually have that sorted out. So we wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, with hardly any refills, we continue to wait. A table that came in behind us get their food, and guess what? They got steaks! About 10 minutes later a lady comes out and says “yalls food looks delicious” and after 25 more minutes I was wondering what food she was even talking about. After just over an hour after our order had been taken we FINALLY got our food and my god was I excited to finally eat. When I got my steak the presentation looked okay, but the steak itself looked great, until I cut into it. It took the literal force of a table saw on wood to cut through what was supposed to be my RARE steak. The seasoning was fine, but as I kept chewing the steak was just awful. I look to my right and I see a literal charred hockey puck that was supposed to be a medium well filet. My brother ordered his ribeye medium well and got it rare, and the shrimp kebabs came with 3 kebabs a piece and a total of 6 shrimp, with one of them having nothing but vegetables on it. That happened to both that ordered. And I wish this was it, with the meal they handed out garlic bread, which would have been really nice to maybe have before waiting an entire hour for the worst steak I’d ever have. And the final straw, the waiter said and I quote “my strategy is starvation” I mean read the room, you have 7 people who arrived happy and are now pretty irritated, and as if it couldn’t get any worse, nobody got their food price adjusted, nobody got offered anything for the inconvenience, we all got our bills, paid, and left. Complete and utter waste of our time, one of our friends asked if we could just leave and I said no because personally I’d feel bad, but after the food and the server, I’d have preferred to leave. My friend paid 53 dollars for a filet mignon that was burned so bad it looked like a hockey puck and I’m not joking. Why even serve something like that if you CANNOT cook it? From top to bottom this place is a place that has ZERO desire to improve because they know that they have a cash cow in Kiva Dunes just five minutes away, and they know that people will pay absolutely absurd prices for horrible HORRIBLE quality food and service! But hey, support local right! Steer clear of these little cash grabbing hole in the wall local spots and just make the drive for a...
Read moreThis restaurant is truly a hidden gem that you might easily overlook, but it's one you absolutely shouldn't miss. Tucked away behind the quick stop, this cozy spot offers not just great food, but an exceptional dining experience. We were amazed by the warm atmosphere and fine cuisine—it's far more upscale than the photos online suggest. The brisket, tuna, and sides like the corn, loaded mashed potatoes, and Brussels sprout skillets were all crafted with such care and attention to detail that you can tell the chefs truly care about their work. The service was also top-notch. Chris our server/bartender was professional, prompt and very knowledgeable.
If you're in the area, whether you're just visiting or a local, this place is a must-try. The journey to this quaint location is enjoyable, with little traffic, and the experience is worth every mile. The pork chop glazed with Mango Cherry Rum Sauce was the best I've ever had, and the steak was out of this world, especially considering the sides that came with it. All of this at a fraction of the price you'd pay at more well-known, but overrated, spots like Jesse’s.
The vibe here is comfortable and relaxing, with just the right mix of classy and beachy. It's a place where you can unwind and enjoy a great meal and delicious drinks. We can’t wait to return to this best-kept secret near Ft. Morgan—it’s...
Read moreMy family of 5 dined at Sassys Chophouse while on vacation in Gullf Shores. When driving up to the address you see Sassys Pizza with absolutely no curb appeal and looking dilapidated. Pulling in the gravel parking lot to the back you see Sassys Chophouse, which looks like a newly renovated building. The atmosphere is quiet and restraunt is open and very dark, almost too dark to see the menu or check your steak to see if it was cooked correctly. The charcuterie board was good with several options to snack on. Both me and my husband ordered filets cooked medium but they were more well done, even the steak juice was not pink. There was actual burnt carbon on my steak, and the waiter never asked if they were cooked correctly and even though we should of sent them back we didnt complain. The steakhouse salad had the toughest steak tips on it resembling a dried hocky puck. The chicken shishkbob had a great flavor and was the best meal we ordered. The tiki salad had beautiful greens on it with a tasty dressing. The creamy crab island soup was amazing and full of crab meat and flavor. The Long Island Iced Teas were great and made you forget all the money you have wasted on this expensive dinner with mediocre taste and presentation. We really wanted this to be a great dinner at this 'hidden gem' of a restaurant but it was a...
