Ben's Deli — Restaurant in Gulfport

I've heard so much about this place! My expectations were met with the quality and definitely the quantity of food received. I ordered the Seafood Platter - half shrimp and half oysters. I was pleased and definitely will return. I was NOT disappointed - weather was bad and I had driven over from Gautier, so I pulled into a gas station and enjoyed my meal.

I was looking so hard that I missed the building. If you're heading West, slow down when you see Elliott Homes on the right; they are right next to them. If you're not really sure where it's located, you'll pass them right up. Parking is kind of different. It's more like, get in where you fit in. 😂

My only draw back was, the young lady at the window wasn't pretty friendly. I was going to order something else, but after I felt rushed, I went with what I knew I wanted for sure. She handed me the little beeper to let me know when my food was ready (I appreciated this feature).

I'm sorry I don't know how anybody would recommend this nasty restaurant. I travel weekly for my job and always try local fare. I ordered a 12" shrimp po boy, at 12"oyster and would have ordered fish but was told it's SWAI. I normally order my po boy with Swiss cheese and was told they did not have any, that’s one strike. I asked for extra cocktail and tartar sauce, and was told they were out of cocktail. How are you a seafood restaurant with no cocktail sauce? Strike two. Lastly the bread was chewy and gummy with no resemblance to authentic French bread, disgusting! I had to take the seafood off the bread in order to stomach it, plus the homemade tartar sauce didn't taste like tartar, ended up having to throw out. Don’t get me wrong by no means at all their food is GREAT and they well potion you for the price you pay BUT, they do not accept debit cards so I had to drive a half of a mile to an ATM and then I had gotten all the way back to work and my order was completely WRONG! So I called them and told them that I had no time to come back because my break was over they told me not to eat it and bring it back Monday.
