Book Bag — Local services in Gulfport

The owner is a welcoming, gracious book lover. She knows every inch of her shelves and many, many of the authors she sells. It's hard to decide which is better - shopping the shelves or conversing with the shopkeeper. 📖

I've found countless precious gifts for VERY affordable prices! On my last visit, I picked up a whole box of children's books for my nieces. Antiques, sci-fi, classics, romance, inspirational, history, etc - she has it all!

June 2025 Update: she has more shelves than ever with new books coming in all the time. I've found everything from OT novels to Russian primers and storybooks to illustrated classics to signed local authors and so very much more.

The parking spaces were almost full today with diverse groups coming and going. Every single customer had smiles on their faces. The young couple with an armful of books exiting as I entered held the door with beaming grins. The family with younger kids was chatting and laughing as they explored the racks and rooms. Some friends I hadn't seen in some time joined me in chatting with the owner up front.

As I realized how long I'd been inside and went to leave, yet another customer came up front with questions on specific book locations that were being promptly answered. It's a bookstore that makes you think of "You've Got Mail" as you sigh for the old days before mega stores full of underpaid,...

I've only been to this store the one time. The lady running the store (possibly the owner?) was incredibly kind. I was looking for a specific, and what I thought was niche, series of scifi novels. Dissapointed, yet not surprised, I couldn't find the author I was looking for in the massive scifi section. Seeing I was puzzled, she asked me what I was looking for. I told her the series and she quickly brought me to an entire section comprised only of books from the series! I was shocked! Thirty or more Warhammer and Warhammer 40k books were tucked away on a bookshelf near the front of the store! I picked out 5 books that I wanted and she explained the price was half the sticker price. She ended up rounding the total down to an even 20 dollars and further explained that if I'd ever like to trade them back, I could do so -- so long as they were traded for books in the same series! This used bookstore is great for finding books you want or need of all genres. She is very knowledgeable and if she doesn't have it she can try and get it for you. Expect used books to be around half the cover price except for newer books might be more. She's fair though and has given me great deals on bundles. The store is far bigger than you think it would be from the outside as it extends in the back. I know she takes books as trade or credit but I haven't done that so I can't say exactly how it works. The only downside is that the landlord hasn't fixed their bathroom and so you have to use the one across the street so try to go before you come lol Otherwise, she's wonderful and is open during covid just closes at 4pm instead of...
