Tacos el Durango Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Gurnee

We drove 20 minutes here as we had heard good things about this place. We noticed they closed at 3 so we got here at 2:20 to have enough time to eat and not keep the staff here any longer. As soon as we walked in we saw all the chairs up on the table and the staff told us we couldn't sit to eat and could only carry out. This is strange as the closing time says 3pm but we agreed to order. We got our food at 2:38 and since there were still 3 tables eating at the restaurant we asked if we could use one to eat and not have to eat in the car. The staff asked the person in charge and he told us again no. We left in disbelief that we were not allowed to use a table to eat while there were still 3 tables eating there. Terrible customer service....

Family owned and operated. Always friendly service. Authentic Durango regional foods. Not cozy but always delicious served with a smile. This is one of our favorite places for Sunday breakfast as well as dinners on the go. Some things we've tried there so far are steak and eggs, all of their tacos, the steak and chicken Fajitas, chorizo and eggs, eggs rancheros, my favorite chilies rellenos. There is also this amazing burrito covered in their creamy green salsa that it absolutely addicting. Everything is served with rice, beans and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. They don't have a web site nor do they deliver, but please don't let that stop you from checking it out. You...

My wife and I stopped at Tacos el Durango Mexican before we made our way to Gurnee Mills this was the first time going to this restaurant and the last! My wife ordered the chilaquiles and I asked the waiter if the gorditas were tortilla like with the meat stuffed inside and he said yes. When he brought us our food it wasn’t Mexican food I don’t know what it was The both of us being of Mexican decent and my grandparents from Nuevo León never made the food like this place. They may fool the Caucasians but they didn’t fool us if you want something more of Mexican authenticity than this place then I would recommend...
